Obama 2.0: David Plouffe On Movement's Next Step (VIDEO)

David Plouffe, President-elect Barack Obama's lauded campaign manager, tells the Washington Post about plans to refocus the grassroots army he helped build to push for new legislation.

"We're going to help facilitate people having discussions back in their home town communities about that -- building support, talking to people about these issues," Plouffe told Romano.

"It is much different than a political campaign," he adds. "That's not what we are undertaking here, we want to just basically try and, for those people that want to get involved, on issues out there in their community, we want to try to figure out the best way to try and help facilitate that."

Quiet, unassuming, thoughtful, committed, honest, sincere, devastatingly effective. I applauded this man more than I did Obama in some ways. I believe this next initiative will be the mechanism that will allow us to clean up corruption in American politics, which is the sword wielded on American economic life. If we can focus this same powerful tool on our local and state governments, we will go a long way toward putting a brass ring in the noses of runaway corporate power. Imagine, an organization like this can target criminal corporate activities from ecological irresponsibility to economic fraud. O.K. Where do I sign up? Where do we start! How about the 32.50 bank overdraft charge for a starter?

I do drive around with an Obama sticker on my car, which gets the old guys in the village stirred up and I get lots of honks etc. The whole world is breathing a collective sigh of relief, if you use my little microcosm as a test group.

I don't understand people complaining about the money requests. I get them all the time too. I give when I can and don't when I can't. But I understand that they're trying as best they can to keep the big money interests out of influence, or at least in a less influential position than they have been in. This is "change I can believe in" and "change we need". This also makes Obama be an "independent" president. I appreciate it when he angers/disappoints different groups and interests--even myself-- because it proves to me that he won't be beholden to any particular ideology, but instead to what works for that time. Besides, if you don't want the emails, it's simple--unsubscribe.

I agree 100%! I love the emails. I gave throughout the election with every paycheck. like a bill I paid just for the future well-being of our country, the world and my family.
