U.S. Rep. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) announced today he plans to introduce legislation that would block potentially billions of dollars in federal stimulus funds from flowing to the office of impeached Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich.
[...]
Under the amendment, stimulus funds would flow instead to the offices of the Illinois legislature for distribution -- a provision allowed under a federal law approved in 1996, the congressman said.

Admit it....moonbats are scared sheet-less of this pro-choice, pro-stem cell, universally-respected-by-his-congressional-peers, sitter-in-many-high-power committees threat to this Senate seat.

You should be...he will DESTROY whatever the Dems throw out in 2010. Just like whatever Dem ran for president (and many other races) had a lock on victory due to the virulent Bush-backlash, the voters of Illinois are gonna lay down a SERIOUS Democratic-backlash come 2010.

Kirk is truly moderate, one of the top 10 most moderate/independent congressmen according to the Wash. Post. He's the only GOP congressman who's rated 100% by planned parenthood. And if you think the fact he voted for the Iraq war (like hundreds of other congressmen, including the vast majority of Democrats did) will have one iota of impact in 2010, you're insane.

Burris will either win the Dem nomination or the person who defeats him in what will be a vicious/ race-baiting battle will bear the burden of having the whole embarrassing debacle re-tainting our collective psyches.

That seat WILL Be GOP.....you may see a GOP running Cook County and Id bet 25% of the Illiinois Senate might go GOP in the next 4 years. T

I'm a Dem, for chrissakes, but I'm not biased enough not to admit that the pendulum is gonna swing back hard here in our fair state....and slice the Dem stranglehold to bits.

"Kirk is truly a moderate."

Huh? He is my Congressman and he is NO MODERATE.
He is a Bush Loyalist.

Taking easy votes is hardly a positive.
Kirk moves to the center or a bit left on issues only when
the RNC has given him permission to do so and the
Party doesn't need his votes.

In Lake County, a Republican stronghold, GOP pols must give
the impression of being moderate no matter what.

There isn't one time Kirk ever voted against the GOP when
his vote was needed.

NOT ONE!

Coming from the man who was one of the main sponsors for the case for going to war in iraq.

I do not care for his suggestions.

Hey, in this case I have to agree with the Republican here. That just sounds like common sense. It's obvious to anyone, Dem or Rep, that Blago has some problems. That's not just me trying to be non-partisan and "fair", that's just plain common sense. The man has serious problems and don't think he's not going to find a way to swipe a little of that taxpayer booty.

Yeah, the little known Lake County Congressman Kirk wants to make the news so
he can run for the Senator or the Governor's seat.

He has said he wants to clean up Illinois State Politics.
What a joke!

However if he is serious, Kirk must go visit Republican Felon, Former Governor
George Ryan, in his prison and ask him, how his crimes went undetected
for so many years.

"How'd you do it, George?"

Get back to us Congressman Kirk and tell Illinois Citizens just how
Felon Ryan did his crimes.

After all, you can't clean up anything unless you know where the mess is and
when is started....................

This is another grandstand move by Kirk, who has begun his run for Obama's old Senate seat. This is very typical. If you want to know the truth about him, ask local government leaders how he fails to include them and work with them, so he can hog the spotlight. ((( Here is Kirk's Jan 5, 2009 grandstand, courtesy of the AP.........CHICAGO - Congressman Mark Kirk says embattled Gov. Rod Blagojevich's career is coming to an end. The Republican says lawmakers should impeach Blagojevich so Illinois can move on. That includes allowing Lt. Gov Pat Quinn to appoint a replacement for President-elect Barack Obama's Senate seat. . . . Kirk said the entire state is at a "standstill" because of the corruption allegations. He claims Blagojevich has "severe" psychological problems. Kirk is a Naval Reserve commander who recently returned from Afghanistan where he says troops have high morale.

Well, even if he is a wei.ner, I still agree with him on this. It would be enabling Blago to allow him access to the funds.

Mayor Daley said he was going directly to Washington, not Springfield. Smart move.

Mayor Daily will steal from anyone he can and tax those he can't steal from.

Great idea! If Blago is given access to this money, Illinois will never see it....

Regardless, Illionois will never see it. Oh a few well connected ALderman will, but only if they are on a certain sideoftheaisle

Sorry but anything coming from Kirk is not going to be a good thing.
I know. He is my Congressman and he is worthless.
The state doesn't need his two cents. There are already steps
being taken to prevent Blago from making these kinds of decisions.
