What qualifies this guy for anything after serving as budget director for the Bush Administration? Guess he found life in the real world was a little tough. Better to try the Senate. He'll fit right in. They do nothing there also.

Uh, he was an Ohio Congressman for six years before that; he left his post in the House to become Bush's budget director. He was my Congressman, and a pretty darned good one, too.

Once he went into the Bush pipeline, though, I lost respect for him.

"Portman also served as President Bush"s U.S. trade representative and headed the Office of Management and Budget " and was also mentioned as a possible running mate for John McCain."

Hmmm! Massive Trade Deficits, Off-Shoring of US Industrial and Factory work, horrific "free trade" treaties which resulted in the escalation of the collapse of Ohio's economy. And then he took over the OMB, which failed in investigating the massive abuses in government contracting in Iraq and domestically, serving rather to cover up the embezzlement? So why should we vote for him again?

Forget it Robbie. After Bob Taft, Ken Blackwell and Tom Noe, I think Ohioans have had their fill of the GOP. And in any event, the rising star in the Ohio Republican Party is Joe the Plumber.

Who gives a darn. I'd like to propose a moratorium on reporting of 2010 elections.

The only way to curtail this perpetual coverage of campaigns, years before the election is for "consumers" to demand it or avoid posting on any stories. Media and blogs can be influenced but only with conscience effort.

Give him 20 years and he'll be indistinguishable from the rest of the GOP.

Pay attention--he's already been in politics, for a long time.
