"Prison Break" Canceled

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. — It's inescapable: Fox TV is bringing "Prison Break" to an end after four seasons.

The network said Tuesday that the drama starring Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell will begin airing its final episodes this spring. The series took a break after its December season debut and will conclude with about a half-dozen episodes starting April 17.

It's the right move for "Prison Break" and its fans, said Kevin Reilly, Fox entertainment president.

"We didn't give it the hook," Reilly told a meeting of the Television Critics Association. "The show just played out. I think you get to the point where creatively everyone feels enough stories were told."

Ending the show now allows it to "finish strong," he said.

I can't say I am sad to see this show go. I never watched it.. What could be more depressing, than watching a show about prison??

First season rocked! What came next was vomit then confusion then a little bit more vomit mixed with confusion, and finally the ride is over.

This show was doomed the moment they got rid of Sarah. Course, they realized their folly and brought her back, but then it just got cartoony.

Bellick goes from bad guy to good guy (and equally dislikable in both)
Mahone goes from super tracker to guy who is barely useful
The absolutely RIDICULOUS situations Bagwell ended up in. They've been on desperation mode.

A lot of people wishing this show gone seem to think they end up right back in prison at the start of season 2. Season two was them on the lam and being pursued by the excellent William Fichtner. That season ENDED with them back in prison. Season 3 sucked outright. Season 4 has actually been pretty good, and episodes 11 and 12 where they actually break into the company and get Scylla were well done. They are smart to end it now, just Battlestar Galactica.

I really enjoyed Seasons 1&2 of Prison Break, but hated Season 3 so much I stopped watching the show. I came back for Season 4 and have actually liked quite a lot this year. They have the same enormously convoluted plots and schemes that hooked me in the first place. But I agree that enough is enough. It's time to go.
