A conservative organization is set to launch an all-out effort aimed at beating Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in 2010.

The American Future Fund Political Action is planning a two-year long offensive against the Democratic leader, who is already a top target of the National Republican Senatorial Committee. The organization, stocked with former Mitt Romney presidential campaign operatives, is set to launch its effort this week with a Web -centered fund-raising drive.

You have to wonder why the Republicans would waste their resources on the Nevada race. Not only don't they have a viable candidate (allbeit yet), but Reid is as busy as the gremlin in "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet" pulling the rivets from the wings of Democratic endeavors. You'd almost expect a little gratitude from the Republicans.

It will not take much work for the Republicans to unseat Reid if he keeps up the consistent crappy work he has so far performed as majority leader(less).

And we're paying this clown for his leaderless ineptness.

We are working on filling rethug seats with Lou Dobbs independents that will fight and put some spine in the HOUSES.

Enough of this BS legislation, that cures no ills, and increases the "decrease" in the quality of life.

Personally, I'd be happy to see Reid go. I hope the Dems out there find a strong candidate to run against him in a primary . . . somebody who's more aligned with true Democratic principles and has the backbone to see them through.

I agree.

He is the pull linkage in the Democratic Party.

He must go: Voluntarily, if he may - yet by force, if he must.

I always thought the GOP was wrong on policy but good at tactics, but lately...
If they unseat Reid, they will still be far from a majority (many gop seats are opening up) and will likely have to deal with a more assertive Senate leader

A common school yard bully-strategy. Finding a weak opponent to create cohesion in their own group. Serves also the other purpose to force the Democratic Senators to close the ranks in defense of Sen Reid who, again with a majority of caucus votes from his colleagues in 2010, would stay the loyal Renfield to the GOP-Dracula. In reality Sen Reid is already on the way out, too obvious a tool of the GOP, and will then, hopefully, develop some shame for his conduct from 2006-2009.

I think that'll be the first Republican campaign I contribute to in at least a decade. Good riddance to Harry Reid! If the Senate Democrats won't replace him, then I'll gladly give up a Democratic Senate seat to get rid of him.

Don't worry Harry...................... Obama turned Nevada blue.

Whatever. The GOP likes to indulge in petty nonsense and empty symbolism of making big ado about unseating leaders. I remember all the smugness that went around when Daschle lost narrowly in South Dakota as though that were some coup de grace for the GOP. Now it looks like he's going to help deliver affordable health care to all Americans. So go ahead. Aim those cross hairs.

The GOP better watch what they wish for, they might get it. And it may have BIG TEETH !!

Reid is either controlled, corrupt, or both. Let him not win the primary.

Prove it. Otherwise, save the libelous statements for somewhere else.

All I have is his behavior. When someone says one thing and consistently does another and allies himself with Lieberman, I would say that is a person not trustworthy enough to gain entry into my house much less congress. He keeps playing this red herring game with the Republicans about filibustering which he never challenges. It is highly suspicious and proves that his allegiances are not to the American people or even his party. Where there is s m o k e, there is f i r e. He is more worried about Burris than this administration's wrong doing. He has not stood up to them at all. I think that is proof to most people to start an investigation. Be careful what you wish for.

Reid caves too often. The recent Burris soap opera and "I don't work for Obama" comment were really stupid politically, especially considering Obama's popularity and the fact that Obama WON HARRY'S STATE in this past election.

If Reid got beat by a progressive Dem in a primary, it would not be a huge loss for the Democrats.

Perhaps Reid should retire.

Don't forget his sickening praise of Ted Stevens, followed by his statement that Stevens shouldn't go to prison because "he's a real war hero!" An absolute disgrace. If he's going down in flames, I really don't care. Sometimes we just need better Dems.

So true. I was so sickened by the standing ovation as well. Anybody who stood and applauded this man needs to go. Reid even went over and above.

Yeah, I forgot about the praising of Ted Stevens, and the stupid excuses Reid gave as to why Stevens should be given leniency.

Reid wasn't that understanding to Roland Burris, or any Democrat.

Let's take him out in the primary and get a progressive who is independent of corruption.
