I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Kevin Bacon needs a job.

Last month New York Magazine revealed Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick were two of Bernie Madoff's victims, and may have lost everything they had but their real estate and checking accounts.

Bacon spoke to Life & Style Magazine about it at a Television Critics Association event:

"We'll march on. We have to. There¹s nothing you can do about it. You can't change what happened. Things could be worse. You remember that, and you go on with your life.

But Kevin was shocked by the news of Madoff's scam. "I didn¹t see it coming," he said.

Asked by Life & Style what he's currently working on, Kevin replied: "I don't have anything lined up right now, but I need to work, for obvious reasons."

Bacon is currently appearing in "Frost/Nixon" while his wife stars on TNT's "The Closer."

I don't seem to remember hearing that Bacon and Sedgewick inherited the money they lost. I think they worked for it just like most Americans that have lost money in the markets in the last year.

Just like anyone else he needs to work to recoop his losses and to maintain his current living standards. Why is it necessary to criticize him?

My only question is are these investors consider themselves to be in the same category as those that bought homes and borrowed money from corrupt lending institutions? Or are the Madoff investors considered stupid or ignorant?

It looks like no matter your income or intelligence if someone wants to scam you then scammed you'll be!

iIam so sorry this has happened to so many people. Even my own family lost some money. Luckily, we had diversity in our accounts, tht is managed by different folk. We are not rich or famous like Kevin Bacon but we do want to remain middle class.

I'm sorry but, no one should feel any sympathy for the victims of this crime. A similiar scam occured in the 1970s, much detailed in book titled Stealing from the Rich.

does anyone really care when super rich people are not conscientious with their money -when millions of men, women and children all over the world are starving to death!!

I'm sure that most of the billions lost were made on the backs of poor folk - so again, who cares!

I dont know who "most of his victims were" and neither do you. I DO know that Kevin Bacon is a very solid person, who has never done anything to anyone, so Im not sure why the hostility. I doubt most of Maddoffs victims were poor, he never actually invested any money, so there is no where on the "backs of poor" ppl to look for his footprint.

His hairdoo on the Golden Globes evidenced his financial distress. Kevin, borrow some money and get a haircut.

Since you need to "work", does that mean you won't be standing up with Daniel Sunjata, Kevin?

Kevin, how about making movie about it. You could find many other lesser known victims and show what effect this debacle has had while at the same time putting some dollars back into pockets.

While I feel sorry for anyone taken by Madoff, I have to agree with Zubeck's comment. Why keep all of your investments (esp if you got a lot of money) with one entity.

Maybe Kevin can use his LinkedIn account and his Six Degrees of Separation to find some work...as in:

Bernie has pulled the American version of a Nigerian 419 scam.

I would think anyone of such substantial means would have a grasp of the concept of having more than one basket for one's eggs. Isn't Diversity right out of Econ 101?
Scams don't amaze me. Myopic singular basketry does.
If something like this wipes you out, that's telling you you had too much money for your brainpan anyway.

What seems to be lost in the horror stories of moneys lost in the Madoff pyramid scheme, was that the people entered into these investments anticipating highly, highly, HIGHLY, inflated returns on their investment. When it sounds too good to be true, remember, it probably is. With reward comes risk, and with risk comes the probability of getting burned.

cry to someone who cares kevin... maybe you can get one of those "shovel ready" jobs PEOTUS is promising... see you on the highway bud...
