Demi was never a Repub. Her former husband Bruce is a Repub, but not Demi.

I like Obama, but there's something wrong in this inauguration craze. We're trying to turn the president into a king. We are supposed to have 3 co-equal branches of government. If anything, Congress is supposed to run the show. Yet we have no celebration for the head of Congress (that would be the Speaker of the House) or the head of the Judicial (that would be the Chief of the Supreme Court). We need to humble the president back to a co-equal, otherwise, we get what we got: presidents who think they are above the law, that they are the State.

I think that people are celebrating the change as well as celebrating the man. That being said, the outgoing president and his administration were the people who tried to expand the Executive branch and it's powers in violation of the 3 equal branches of government. It feels, (to quote Republican Gerry Ford) that a long national nightmare is over. I voted and campaigned for Obama but I am a citizen celebrating what feels like the return of my country from kidnappers and thugs who tried to say it was theirs to do with what they wished.

The celebration is not only for the man but for the moment he represents. You should celebrate, too.

I think what you're witnessing is a HUGE exhale and feeling of pride in a newly-elected president. Face it: people are STARVED for proper leadership in this country. But your concerns are so noted and well expressed.

I like Obama too and I agree. The inauguration was more like a coronation. We seem to have a complete loss of humility, and objectivity. Let's get back to our core values and drop this celebrity worship.

Dr. King wouldn't have approved. The power elite and beautiful people celebrate into the wee hours whilst wars rage, prisoners suffer and poor people starve. It’s a stark juxtaposition and very unbecoming of the New America – and certainly not indicative of Change.

Would love to know what Jesse Jackson was thinking, as Chris Matthews looked to be (still) talking.

[Grace Hightower (Mrs. De Niro)] "Marisa Tomei and Robert De Niro". Why do they keep ignoring his wife in all of the photo captions?

I also was wondering why the captions never say, Grace Hightower DeNiro.

It is strange how they post the captions, and neglect to post that Grace is Roberts wife.
