Denied By Bush, George Ryan To Seek Clemency From Obama

Former Illinois Governor George Ryan will ask President Barack Obama to commute his 6-and-a-half-year sentence for political corrupption. That's according to former Governor Jim Thompson, one of Ryan's lawyers.

The only thing Ryan is sorry about is that he got caught. Letting him loose would just give other politicians permission to be corrupt. As an Illinois citizen, we don't need any more politicians thinking that pay to play is acceptable at any level. As it is, we need a Governor's Wing at the federal penitentiary.

His representatives have stated that he has lost his reputation, is humiliated, etc. He wants out because of this? His offenses were not a spur of the moment thing. They were well thought out, except for the fact that he got caught, after many offenses were successfully transacted. No he needs more therapy behind the walls of prison, and as far as I'm concerned, what he gets from behind (the walls), he earned.

Obama knows this story quite well. I sincerely doubt that he would pardon this criminal. Ryan is far worse than Blago, his future cell mate.

I'm sure that the Willis family, who was almost totally wiped out by a truck driver who bought a commercial drivers license from Ryan, will have a lot to say to Obama about this. Something tells me that he'll be empathetic to them rather than to Ryan... I hope.
