J. Crew Website Crashes Due To People Searching For Obama Items

Michelle Obama

New York Times:

Some inauguration viewers were fascinated by the historical tidbit that President Barack Obama took the oath of office on Abraham Lincoln's Bible.

Others were more interested in the J. Crew sage green leather gloves that Michelle Obama wore to hold the Bible for her husband -- not to mention the pale pink and royal blue wool coats the Obamas' daughters wore, also from J. Crew.

After reading this item, I too took a look at the J. Crew website. I did locate one pair of blue jeans that are made in the USA, but it seemed to me that their prices are pretty steep. I am not much of a shopper, though, so I cannot really compare. I think it would be helpful for consumers to tell the stores/catalogues that they are looking for American made goods!

I just went through all my J. Crew clothes. (all 3 pieces, I don't have many). None are made in the USA.

Bummer.

I love J Crew, can't afford much there, but buy it occasionally, I'm sure I couldn't afford the custom made!

Was that kodak Camera in Malia's hand from Circuit city ? If yes, she could save the store from going bankrupt :-)

Why are Americans such sheep? Why do they have to flock towards and imitate everything they see? It never even crossed my mind to visit these web sites. I'd rather these sheep flock towards issues that really matter for our country. Issues that deal with how we are going to dig ourselves out of this economic hole we are in. Stop worrying about looking like the Presidential family and start involving yourself in the change he campaigned on!

so true, I love clothes, but what looks good on someone else doesn't always look good on me. I also like my own ideas, who wants to be a clone.

Sensibly priced chic. Brilliant!

I think if I had kids I wouldn't buy them stuff from JCrew. Maybe sensibly priced for those with higher incomes but for regular folks, it's just too much. Plus they're just kids. Not the first kids of course but my would-be kids. I think Filene's basement coats would do them just fine.

I love J Crew, but sensibly priced it's not. The vast majority of Americans can't afford to shop there.
I do occassionly shop there, but for things like my daughters wedding, not everyday clothes. I make good money, but those clothes are an investment.

Has anyone been following him with a bag for his first presidential bathroom trip geeez

LOL, this is too funny. The color Michelle had on is very popular. I love that color green. Commentators kept calling her dress yellow. It's more like an olive green for the gloves and a lighter green for the dress.

Obama is a lucky man to have two lovely girls and a loving wife, make up for the lost of his mother grandmother.

I love Malia's dress, red and blue are my favourite colour. I like the way Michelle dress these little girls. My 11 year old daughter does not like string and topless, or her blouse close- fitting and her dress too short.

I love M's outfits, but I cannot emulate her. I look crap in chartreuse and yellow. Meh.

Michelle has certainly boosted that company's sales over the past months.
