All eyes were on Michelle last night (see the slideshow), but Jill Biden may well have won 'best-dressed.' The vice-president's wife was radiant in a red gown by Lebanese designer Reem Acra.

From Reem Acra's website:

Influenced by her mother's impeccable style and love of fashion, Reem was always fascinated by design. As a little girl, she accompanied her mother to fabric stores to learn about the finest fabrics, textures and design details such as hand-embroidery that would later become signature elements of her iconic style. As Reem grew up, her passion for design continued to evolve and she began designing dresses for herself, which were brought to life by her personal couturier.

After graduating high school, Reem studied business at the American University of Beirut, where she was discovered at a party by a fashion editor who was captivated by Reem's dress - an ornate gown of silk organza and museum quality embroidery that was made from her mother's dining room tablecloth. The woman instantly offered to host a fashion show of Reem's designs which took place ten days following the chance encounter, and weeks later Reem was off to study in New York at the Fashion Institute of Technology and later its Paris counterpart at Esmond.

Following her studies, Reem traveled the world, drawing inspiration from the diverse countries she visited. After working as an interior designer for a few years, Reem continued to develop her craft in Hong Kong and New York where she returned to her fashion roots. In less than 10 years her atelier gained international recognition, sparked by a high society friend wearing Reem's first bridal design, a simple yet embellished creation, to her society wedding. Soon after, Reem launched her first collection, Reem Acra Bridal, which elevated classic bridal designs through the use of the finest silks and intricate beading and embroidery.

Hands down a better dres than Michelle's. The lines on Michelle's were lovely, but the fabric was just awful and the shoulder strap was way too wide...she's got a slim figure and that dress did NOT set it off...now, if she would just stand up straight too.

What did Joe da man say about his wife? "She's drop-dead gorgeous." Love the gown.

I am thrilled and have great admiration for our new presidential and vice presidential couples. They are beautiful people inside and out. You, Dr. Jill, looked absolutely stunning in that dress and I applaud all four of you for making us finally proud to be Americans again.

Jill's dress was beautiful, far classier and sexier than Michelle's, and Joe looked great in his tuxedo, while President Obama didn't cut the figure I thought he would in his--the pants looked too baggy and long. Balls may be an adult, generational thing that the Obama's will have to grow into. I thought Michelle's swearing in dress and coat were lovely.

Jill and Joe Biden lokked so amazing all day long.I know some fashion so called experts were already giving her flack right after the swearing in because her hem line was above the knee and she wore go go boots.I however thought she looked young fresh and hip,she looked the part of a newer younger crowd taking over and putting their stamp on the town they were about to run for the next 8 years

Yeah, I want fresh and hip to run my country...let's worry about what they'll be wearing...God willing it will only be 4 years. She's got the legs for the shorter hems and Michelle's swearing in dress and coat were great.

Jill's dress wins for form AND function:
She looked fresh, bright, energetic and focal
The dress walked beautifully
The dress danced beautifully
She looked comfortable in it
The color enhanced both of them and worked perfectly on camera

Jill's gown was prettier than Michelle's, but I was noticing Jill looked great Tuesday in everything throughout the day. Maybe it was because she didn't have to force or perfect it like Michelle with all the pressure and stuff.

Jill, you and Joe are a stunning couple.
Your dress is lovely.
You both along with Barack and Michelle, may bring back true love to America.
We out west are so excited to see REAL people in Washington representing us.
thanks

For crying out loud! First, let me say, both ladies were dressed very well! But, more to the point, I thught liberals and Democrats were interested in issues to keep this country from going down the tube and here some people have nothing better to do than make snide remarks about Michelle's dress. The little girls looked great also, but some people made snide remarks about their clothes coming from J. Crew.
Some of this stuff is very mean spirited and I thought that kind of nastiness belonged to the Republicans. Maybe I can hope these remarks did come from Republicans. Surely, good Democrats have higher ideals than this.

I think the dress is spectacular and she wore it well, very beautiful. She and her husband are a class act and will make us proud.

I think we can all agree that democrats aren't nearly as shallow as that stupid mom sarah palin

Dr. Biden is beautiful in that dress. She and VP Biden look very striking individually and together.
