The reason his son likely said "I want to be black" is because of the information likely fed to him or filtered in through adults and the world he lives in: Presiden Obama is the President is because he is Black. Reality: the reason Presiden Obama is the President is because he is highly intelligent, principled, has ethics, a good father, a good husbamd, a good man. No one is telling him that millions of people have been made to feel that they matter and that he understands what they are going through and that he will do everything he can to make things better. . "Black" is in? As though it's some magical transformation to success? Tthe Boondocks' creator doesn't know how to articulate it but what he's trying to say: many think that President Obama is the end of all racial, social issues. Nope, in fact we are about to go to a new level of it all. Folks are still in a euphoric state. He is not a Black President, he is a President who is Black. We ALL need to wrap our minds about what that means. He is human, he will do his very best, but governing is a relationship. No matter what anyone does in the relationship to make it work, if all the rest -- from the media to the members of Congress to his own cabinet -- have their own agenda, or have no intent to make the relationship work, he can only

Larry King is a terrible interviewer. Wonder why he is still on. Who the heck watches his programs? Haven's seen him in over 15 years.

I am also disgusted with this OLD, very old, man having an 8 year old child. Poor kid is going to grow up and go to college fatherless. Most of all, those young women who have no self-respect and marry such old, but rich, men for their money disgust me even more.

He had the audacity to catch Marie Osmond off guard and ask her about her teenage son's rehab yet has stayed away from any news about Caroline Kennedy backing out of the Senate seat choice. If a journalist is going to ask tough questions for some, they must be for all. There's more to the nanny taxes and marital issues with Kennedy.

Geraldo Rivera changed his name during college to Jerry Rivers. He didn't want anyone to know of his Latin heritage. Now he's gone crazy about illegal immigration support.

A discussion on race that is substantive. Posting stupid comments like LK's doesn't do anything to further our conversations on race......bill moyers great interview with two black professors........HP lets raise the discussions to a little higher level

O.K.

The system however focuses on having black folk serve as the proxy for white guilt, by using them to discuss a complex cultural disease that they virtually are POWERLESS to destroy. Men like Steven Jobs, Bill Gates, Bill Clinton are the sons of white priviledge and the system that makes them the natural ones to discuss then the system that helped them be the people who they became. What we then do is become accustom to seeing white men not discuss RACE on the big stage and black men discuss RACE. It is akin to the wilderbeast discussing his hope that the big cats in his environment are better suited to become vegetarians. It is ridiculous, both the argument and the possibility, unless the big cats first agree that becoming vegetarians is something that appeals to them.

Here, in America is where the racial dialogue stalls, if it were simply up to black folks making the appeal to end racism, it would have stopped with Dubois, Carter, Ellison or Wright. Whites have to step up to the plate and involve themselves in the debate and demonstrate the leadership in which they have continued to pawn off on black voices; it great to see these men, but they are simply preaching to the choir---thus why so many whites continue not to be informed by those blacks who speak about race.

I do too Mr. King, that way your show would highlight the injustices black men face everyday, all for being BLACK!

Haven't we all said said things, in the bigger scheme of things, that we cringe at, when we think about it.. Still, I agree, it was a stupid thing to say....there are no advantages to being black...but I think the general consensus is that black must be especially proud of this historic event.

I had to rethink how I worded that. There are no "societal" advantages to being black since we still live under a system of racism.
