Cubs To Close Tribune Era Without World Series

It looks as if the Tribune era of Cubs ownership will end without a World Series championship, just as the Wrigley family reign ended in failure in 1981.

After nearly two years of intrigue, the billionaire Ricketts family won out over two other groups as the favored bidder for the franchise, a source close to the successful bid said Thursday night.
