President Obama warned Republicans on Capitol Hill today that they need to quit listening to radio king Rush Limbaugh if they want to get along with Democrats and the new administration.

"You can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done," he told top GOP leaders, whom he had invited to the White House to discuss his nearly $1 trillion stimulus package.

And President Obama is the President of them, too. Are you guys gonna whine for 8 years and hope he fails or are you gonna support the President?

I suspect I know the answer, already.

And they lost. Both sides argued both sides to the American people, and the Republican side lost.

Elections have consequences.

You are the people too. Not the smartest to vote against your own and your countries best interest, but none the less you are Americans too. Thank goodness Obama will work to make your lives better as well.

Why don't you give it a rest with your drive-by exaggerations? This country is in big trouble, but you're in the mood to have an 8th-grade level snarky contest. You'll get used to having an intelligent, articulate President- you'll see. Maybe you'll even decide to join the tide of hope and excitement for the future, instead spewing a trail of mean-spirited negativity. Where exactly is that going to get us?

I agree that no majority is "the People." Would you however agree that Mr Obama has a greater mandate than Either of Mr Bush's two victories? Mr Bush subsequently governed as if he had a mandate didn't he? Why should Mr Obama do anything else?

You have to take your hat off to America as it is one of the few places in the world where people can make millions of dollars by going on the air waves spouting lies, bigotry and hate.

In most countries if they did this they would end up being institutionalized either in prison for promoting hate crimes or in a mental institution for being dillusional and disoriented.

It is weird that the U.S. ranks 43rd world wide when it comes to freedom of the press where the truth is suppressed yet people can go on the radio and television and slander their people without having to worry about being held accountable. SIMPLY AMAZING!!!!

Issuing contraceptives is one of the first and easiest things we can do to help the economy. We have nuts out there calling themselves doctors who are giving women fertility drugs causing hundreds of multiple births. Like this earth can sustain all of these people, even without that added burden. There are too many people now competing for education, jobs, and even food. Charities and soup kitchens are bankrupt. Autism is at an all-time high. Who will support these folks if something befalls the parents? We don't care for our veterans as it is. They are losing their homes, having their vehicles reposessed, divorcing at record rates, and having to beg months in advance for an appointment with anyone. The air, water and food supplies are full of toxins. It is nothing but irresponsible to continue on the same path while addressing this dire economic situation.

Me too. I love it when he is called "naive" and the GOP thinks they can get away with something. They forget he has a spine of steel. He can listen to everyone (which does NOT mean taking every suggestion), be polite and bi-partisan and still play hardball when he has to do so.

I remember during the final debate Barack called out Fox News and the next day they were crying like the liars they are. His press secretary Robert Gibbs then took on Hannity and Bill Burton called Fox News out on their obvious anti-Obama agenda.

Obama is going to continue to call out the liars and the hate mongers like Rush. Imagine how embarrassing it must be for the GOP right now for the Prez to imply that the head of your party is a political shock jock drinking haterade and choking down an assortment of pills who should be in jail?

These fools insert poison into the political debate and ignoring it is not going to make it go away. Obama is going to take these mofos head on.

Obama's target wasn't Limbaugh. It was the Republican party and the independent voters. His remark doesn't legitimate Limbaugh so much as it reinforces the connection between Limbaugh and the Republican Party. It gives Obama the same advantage Republicans tried to exploit by linking Democrats with Michael Moore.

Bingo. Once again, Obama is helping this rift in the Republican party to grow. He will marginalize the far right from the moderates and independents. He started to do that when he called Fox News out during the last debate and had his press secretary Robert Gibbs take on Hannity.

I'm looking forward to seeing Barack outwit these cretins for the next 4 years (hopefully 8).

Rush publicly stated that he wanted Obama to fail. That I think is the context that Obama is referring to when he asks R's to quit listening to Rush. You know Bush would say you were unpatriotic. Obama didn't say that, even though if you listen and agree with Rush you obviously want the country to fail and so that is pretty unpatriotic to me. His jab is brilliant. What he is saying is - you can't be listening to Rush wanting the country to fail and get anything done. That is way nicer then I would be. But it is also a statement of pure fact, and a smack-down that says - if you are stupid enough to want the country to fail you are also too stupid to be able to get anything intelligent done and also why would anyone listen to you or your ideas?

Ouch! And ROFL!

Rush Limbaugh is unAmerican. It's fine to not agree with your president or his administration, but Rush Limbaugh's critique is not intelligent, it is riddled with fallacy. It amounts to little more than childish name-calling and an attempt at whipping the masses into an "us vs. them" frenzy. The Republicans need to realize that Rush's approach is killing what should be an open debate. It is the vocabulary of hatred that we all must abandon in order to solve our country's problems.

Get with the program, people! It's okay to dissent, just try to be polite about it.
We need to come together and really talk to each other to form a concensus on how to solve our problems. If Rush weren't so rude, maybe Democrats would start listening to him when he makes the occasional valid point.
My father had an expression, "You are talking so loud I can't hear you."
Sounds like Obama is trying to clue the Republicans in to this.

The GOP DOESN'T listen to Limbaugh any more. That's why they are losing elections.

When was the last time Democrats and Republicans worked together on legislation and the legislation turned out "conservative"?

The Libs never compromise their principles to "get things done". Republicans like John McCain do.

Every Dem who voted for the war "compromised." As for McCain, he has almost a 100% bush voting record over the past 8 years. For two years this country's people listened to endless campaigining. The majority of them chose between two people - Obama/Dem and Limbaugh/Palin/McCain/GOP. They chose Obama/Dem. You lost. Deal with it.

You can take all the red states and stick them where the sun doesn't shine. How great are the rethugs, Shelby and Sessions. They refused to help the American auto industry, why, because you and I gave over $1 billion in tax breaks to foreign auto mfg's to build in Alabama.
Cut out the red states in this country and I won't notice or care! They pay less taxes than people in the midwest, north, south & west.
Just like Alaskans, they live off of our tax dollars, let them all go and be their own country, fine with me.
The US can have 39 states as far as I care
