Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, after a defiant and incoherent Friday press conference, is taking his case to television. Lynn Sweet reports on the first leg of this media marathon, from the "Today Show" Sunday:

Impeached Gov. Blagojevich, on the first leg of his media blitz timed to the start of his impeachment trial, in an NBC interview broadcast on The Today Show Sunday compared himself to human rights heros Nelson Mandela, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Mahatma Gandhi.

...

As he was taken from his home by federal agents on Dec. 9, Blagojevich told NBC, "I thought about Mandela, Dr. King and Gandhi and tried to put some perspective to all this and that is what I am doing now."

On Monday, Blagojevich will appear on ABC's "Good Morning America" and with his wife on "The View."

yeah I didn't hear him compare himself to those he cited. He just said he thought about them to try and gain some perspective on what he was going through. He never said, "you know, what I'm going through is what Ghandi, Mandela and MLK went through."

If thinking about them is appropriate in order to gain perspective on his situation, then that means he views his situation as being comparable to theirs. That means he views himself as being comparable to them.

Around 1940, Gandhi said this to the Brits: "You know this 'f-ing country is too valuable to you..What is the price you all m'fers, for me to quit this stupid non-violent movement and fasting..I am f-ing hungry - I can eat a whole f-ing cow! So name the damn price!!"

See why Blago is confused about Gandhi?

The problem with cuckoos is that they crow with faithful regularity, saying the same old thing. Ya just can't shut 'em up.

Ahh yes!. we all remember Dr. King's famous speech, "I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed. But this dream is f*#^ing worth something. These mo^%*4 fu&#*rs just think I'm gonna give this dream away for nothing. F*^k that! This dream is F&#king Golden!"

When Blago compared himself to Gandhi, MLK Jr. and Mandela, he meant Boom-boom "Quick Fingers" Gandhi, Alvin Martin Luther King Jr. (aka "the Snake"), and Benedict Arnold Mandela, not the famous figures with who those names are ordinarily associated. Placed in context, the comparisons were appropriate.

This guy really took his job as a joke. Clearly he only cares about himself.

I read that, this morning, in an interview with ABC, Mr. Cockoo said he thought about naming Oprah Winfrey as the new Senator. The more this guy speaks, the more it becomes obvious that he is unstable.

This is perfect: As the Gov goes on a P.R. blitz his removal from office should be done by Friday as without him to argue every inch of the way he will get steamrolled. He instead has decided to do the Ego Tour of 2009. It will be short but never sweet. Nobody ever likes to hear himself talk more then this guy.
Your 15 minutes is almost up Gov.

Mandela - King - Gandhi - Blagojevich? Sounds like a set-up for an insanity defense to me! But most of us agree with Chicago's Mayor Richie Daley, when he stated that he thinks B-Rod is "cukoo-cukoo".
