Rush Limbaugh Opposes Stimulus Package Because Success Could Hurt GOP's Electoral Chances

On Friday, when President Obama met with congressional leaders from both parties to discuss his economic recovery and reinvestment program, he told GOP leaders, "You can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done." Asked for a response by National Review yesterday, Limbaugh said that Obama's "plan is to isolate elected Republicans from their voters." He added that passage of the stimulus bill would hurt Republicans electorally:

"Right-wing authoritarian followers" aren't looking for their authoritarian figures be logical. They're looking for that viscerally felt sense of righteous indignation. They are looking to enforce convention even if it requires the commission of hate crimes in the name of their leaders. All accountability is deferred to these authoritarian leaders so it doesn't matter how violent they get as long as their crimes are seen by other followers in the light of enforcement of their bent and self-righteous sense of morality.

Rush will never make sense to those who hang out here -- progressives and free thinkers. But he speaks to the twisted guts of authoritarian followers. These are dangerous people and reason will never make a dent on their hard knogins. They only understand authoritarian strength.

I'm looking at the photograph of Rush and I'm reminded of a story told on Sigmund Freud, who used to chew on big cigars while lecturing on phallic symbols created unconsciously. One day, a student confronted him asking, "So what's that cigar?" to which he replied, "Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar."

With Rush, it is undoubtedly not just a cigar and they're big ones.

It's great when a rich guy can get so much news coverage by criticizing a carefully crafted economic recovery plan designed to help millions of middle class and poor people in a time of economic crisis, while his proposed plan for the same situation is to "Do Nothing."

Limbaugh and Hannity continue with their hate rhetoric to divide this nation. However, they have
not seen that the tide has turned on them. Only the oldest and narrow-minded in America
are listening to the Republicans then to them now. Limbaugh's hope that "Obama fails" means
America fails. American will see this what for it is...unpatriotic and stupid language.

Limbaugh and Hannity are now obsolete as far as the majority of Americans are concerned
(check out the latest approval ratings for Obama at 83% leaving only 17% who want to still
follow these divisive talkshow hosts. The American people are not stupid and will see through
the Republicans obstructionist tactics on the stimulus package. The Republicans will face
more lost seats in 2010 and 2012 due to these tactics.

Rush and his small group of friends (accomplices ) are convinced that the American public is divided into 2 groups -both make them laugh till the tears roll:

1) Detractors that are outraged by them. (while they carry off the cash)

2) Followers that eat their propaganda and beg for more! (while they carry off the cash)

Usually Rush is on his knees at some corporate office when pictures like these are taken. He usually has something long and hard in his mouth in those pictures too.

Actually, the headline makes sense only if you consider that Obama wants to prevail. Because the quote Limbaugh made was that of Obama saying that if his plan doesn't fly then they (THE DEMOCRATS) will lose seats.

To wit: Secondly, here is a combo quote from the meeting:

“If we don’t get this done we (the Democrats) could lose seats and I could lose re-election. But we can’t let people like Rush Limbaugh stall this. That’s how things don’t get done in this town.”

This is not Rush saying Republicans could lose seats, this is Obama saying Democrats could lose seats.

SEE THE DIFFERENCE?

I thought so. So how do you justify putting words into Rush's mouth that HE did not utter? I like your deceptive posts here, and on Think Progress.

I once heard rush proclaim, years ago on the Johnny Carson Show, that Ron Kovic (the subject character of the movie/book: "Born on the 4th of July") was a traitor! Mr. Kovic's apparent offense was that he was a liberal running for public office. In so doing, Rush conveniently brushed aside his "entertaining" patriotism by slandering a war hero, committed to a wheelchair as a result of his heroic actions during the Vietnam War, in order to make his corrupt political point. He hasn't changed much since then, as evidenced by his recent comment that he hopes Obama (and thereby the country....fails).
You ditto heads must be proud of your hero! I, on the other hand, will look to the Ron Kovic's of the world for my inspiration.......
