Andrea Mitchell, Gay Icon?

New York Observer:

Was there something about Andrea Mitchell that melted the gay man's hardened heart?

Sure, there's Rachel Maddow and that wry smile, there's Anderson Cooper and his silver foxiness, but Andrea ... she's got something else. But what was it?

We were pretty sure it had something to do with her performance at the very end of last year's Republican convention, when she appeared completely unfazed by the avalanche of red, white and blue balloons pouring over her as she reported from the floor. Endearing, tenacious, resilient!

We decided to take a sample of some of our friends. We sent them an IM that went something along the lines of: "Andrea Mitchell: Secretly a gay icon?"

"I do love her! She's so sassy," said our friend Chris.

Actually the headline caught my eye and at first I thought Andrea Mitchell was gay. LOL I don't undersand the attraction though, she has to be in her sixties, she appears to have had multiple facials. She is very conservative.

This story is total baloney.

Gays everywhere are discussing this story on the internets. No one knows what this person is talking about.

Not one gay thinks of Andrea Mitchell as a gay icon. No one thinks of her period.

Dorothy Parker was a great writer, extremely sarcastic and witty. Excellent person to crush on gay or straight while Andrea Mitchell seems to be kind of an idiot.

Dorothy Parker's review of Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged" was pithy and to the point: "This is not a book to be lightly cast aside. It should be hurled with great force." Ayn Rand's boytoy in the later years of her life was .... Alan Greenspan, prophet of "Free" Markets, architect of our ongoing financial crisis and by some accounts husband of Andrea Mitchell. Dorothy was wonderful, deeply commited to social justice and possessed of an absolutely mordant wit. In her will, she bequeathed her estate to the NAACP. I really wish I had known her.
