I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Entering the fray between Rush Limbaugh and the new Obama administration, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has launched an online petition here to repudiate the incendiary conservative talk-show host.

The petition is accompanied on the DCCC website by the well-circulated video of the Limbaugh statements that began this whole affair: the assertion, "I hope he fails." If anyone missed it, here is the video:

In a mass email, DCCC Executive Director Brian Wolff called for solidarity, saying "Jobs, health care, our place in the world -- the stakes for our nation are high and every American needs President Obama to succeed. Creating real change requires every American stand strong against Rush Limbaugh's attacks -- and all of the other partisan attacks from desperate Republicans that are on the way."

Limbaugh has responded to the petition, according to CNS News, with this statement on his website: "I am greatly puzzled. Why would the Democrats petition against me if I am doing such terrible damage to the GOP? "

The more attention that people like Limbaugh and Palin get the more they like it. The Democrats and the left media in this country should completely ignore those two fools and start petitions to get the jobs that need to be done, done and done right. The Democrats should start a petition to increase the amount of money in the stimulus package for infrastructure and eliminate the money going for tax cuts. That would be a much more appropriate campaign. Most politician's will tell you that they don't care what you write about them just spell their name correctly. That goes double for spotlight hounds like Coulter and Limbaugh. They say outrageous things because they get publicity and attention for saying outrageous things. There's an old joke about a sadist and a masochist and the masochist asks the sadist to beat him and the sadist says no. The same treatment should be afforded Limbaugh and the other so-called Republican mouthpieces. Let Limbaugh eat himself into a heart attack--die for lack of attention--as it were. Ignoring him and giving him absolutely no coverage whatsoever is the best remedy.

This petition is just downright, damned stupid. what are the Democrats going to do once they get Limbaughs signature, put him jail? Feed him to the lions? This is the USa and Limbaugh has the right to his opinion, though he can sometimes be a jerk. As for wishing Obama to fail, if Obama wishes to urn this country to sociailism as many believe he does , then I hope he does fail, If not, I hope he succeeds. Pull up the site of the National Black Republican Association, The site is nationalblackrepublicans.com.com. This group say Obama is NOT whom they wanted to represent their race in history. THey say he is a socislist who is going to ruin this country,If one does not believe Obama is a socialist, read his book "Dreams of My father." Not only does Obama say he sopports marxism in this book, he says he would start a race war against whites in this country if it were productive. Bush wasnt a great President, though he kept this country safe from terrorism. However, no one but the blind and the stupid voted for Barack. i say give most people who voted for Barack one year with Barack in office, and they will see what a terrible mistake they made voting for him. . Barack said his grandmother Showed "typical white behavior." Barack made this racist remark in his national race spech. It takes no class to badmouth one's grandmother publicy.

That petition will be Exhibit A in the defense of Rush Limbaugh's right to freedom of speech. This is an example of why I consider myself a leftist, and not a "liberal". The petition is just dumb.

Rush LImbaugh, as the de facto head of the Republican Party, will lose Republican votes. I say let him spout off.

With Sarah Palin and Limbaugh at the head, Republicans should change their name to The Running Joke Party..

Rush Limbaugh is the new Fritz Kuhn -- a "fifth columnist," if you will.

What's it going to take to get some figure with "clout" to clearly denounce him as such?

Rush, do you hope Obama fails because you wish ill will towards this country or are you afraid that your world view might be proven wrong and are willing to sacrifice the country to appease your ego and sense of self righteousness? Please remember that after 9/11 the entire country came together to support Bush regardless of political identify and in spite he his obvious ineptitude because it was the appropriate thing to do and the best way to move the country forward. Now we face a situation that is having a much greater direct impact on many more people, I can assure you that more than 4,000 people will likely die as a result of this economic downturn, and you hope that the country suffers more! While staring this situation square in the face you put ideology before country. I am proud to be an America. When did you lose your American pride?

I think the absolute best thing the Dems could do is ignore Limbaugh. Treat him like he is no more than a pesky gnat, because he only has power to be more if we fuel the fire. A petition is just the kind of fuel that keeps his audience tuning in as he can play it as an attempt to censor free speech, etc.

I agree. He gets pleasure from the contraversey. But, there should be some response to his ignorant remarks when he really steps out of line. Rush Limbaugh is a performer, he wants to be outrageous else how could he make his money. He certainly couldn't make a living holding down a job that requires integrity and truth.

That's what we did when Clinton was president. Who would have believed that Bush2 would be capable of even stealing an election from Al Gore? Democrats are waking up. Now we have Media Matters, FactCheck, Al Franken, etc.

It's time to start the discussion of the FCC changing TV and Radio ownership rules.

Time that all the media chains downsize the number of radio stations they can own, and local ownership be restored to local stations.

No fairness doctrine, local ownership.

Local ownership will destroy Conservative Talk Radio.

While I support local ownership, it would do nothing to end conservatives like Limbaugh dominating the air waves.

Rich owners have an interest in perpetuating the conservative dogma no matter where they live, particularly those whose wealth is diversified. They can afford to lose share, as long as they can control the content of what gets broadcast.

The fairness doctrine, aka EQUAL TIME, worked just fine and is the answer for balanced programming.

I don't know why any liberal or progressive would object to the fairness doctrine.

I love that Obama has basically crowned Limbaugh the leader of the GOP. Obama will coast to a 2012 victory.

The Sad thing is the common rethuglicants take Limbaugh as Gospel ...LOL

so much so the politicians have to grovel when they go against him...

he is not taken serious by Obama and that is why he was not invited to the party
he has a TALK SHOW and is just another Geraldo

Whether you love him or hate him - Rush is never going away till he no longer can draw a crowd. It matters not if you are blowing kisses or throwing tomatoes - you still show up and his commercial value spikes up making him a wealthy, wealthy man.

Would you listen to hours of Lawrence Welk just to prove you hate your Grandpa's music?? If Rush is so "yesterday" why are we talking about him today?

Is it because he stepped forward this morning (like he does everyday) as thinks "Hmmmmmmmm - if I mumble a few stupid words - the crowds will come" ? . . . they do - here we are.

I just saw the clip. I live in Indiana. I'm so ashamed and embarrassed. It's bad enough when the "dittoheads" give El Gasbag so much respect and false idol worship, and credit for having more influence than he actually does have or should have, but when elected politicians on the national level do it, it's really disgusting.

Rush is right. What on earth is the DCCC doing?

It sure is great seeing Rush being adopted as the GOP's posted child, BTW. Great for their image.

For goodness sakes everyone, shut up and stop giving him free press. He's irrelevant. Now act like it. Turn your anger and frustration in to positive action instead of frothing about him.

You say silence, is that not how we got in this mess?
Exactly what positive action did you have in mind?

Focus on the real issues that will be investigated by the Department of Justice - bringing justice to elected officals if they have broken laws . . . don't wate your time on a phoney entertainer.

He is only a distraction to the real problem while the others make a quiet get away.

Call your Senator and the White House today and tell them to take out all the stupid tax cuts and put in more infrastructure repairs in the stimulus package. It will take about ten to fifteen minutes of your time and it is a positive thing to do. People who don't have a paycheck don't need a tax cit they need a job!!! Call today and explain this forgotten bit of logic to the White House and the Senate!

Silence against elected officials is one thing. Silence against a shock jock cheap low-class radio presenter is another thing. We take action by focusing on those elected officials who can initiate change. Limbaugh, as nauseating and disgusting as his rhetoric is, has a right to free speech. Seeking to censure him only plays into his whole persecution complex. I agree with NWBrunette, focus your energy on people who matter, people who actually have agency in making decisions for this nation!
