Blagojevich: Obama Should Fire Rahm Emanuel (VIDEO)

In his hour-long closing statement before the Illinois State Senate today, Governor Rod Blagojevich continued to traipse across the plane of outlandish comparisons. Departing from comparisons between himself and renowned civil rights leaders, he chose this time to group in with Washington bigwigs.

In his rambling statement, Blago culled the names of various politicians whom he considers equally guilty of the state Senate's allegations, including Rahm Emanuel, John McCain, Ted Kennedy, Dick Durbin, Harry Reid and Bob Menendez. Of course, as Politico's Ben Smith notes, Blago is acting as though he is "being impeached for fighting for citizens' right to cheap prescription drugs" -- not for trying to sell the vacant Illinois senate seat now occupied by Roland Burris and shaking down state contractors for campaign contributions.

According to this "Blagojevich scenario", wherein he is being impeached for prescription drug legislation rather than a pay-to-play scheme, "President Obama [should] fire Rahm Emanuel" and McCain and Kennedy should be "indicted as co-conspirators." Elsewhere in his statement, Blagojevich went on to invoke "fundamental rights" and "natural laws" as the principles upon which his defense is founded.

Throughout this legal and political saga, the Illinois governor has maintained that he is "not guilty of any criminal wrongdoing." But he also seems to be intransigently oblivious as to why he is even being impeached, constantly returning to irrelevant arguments about his first-term efforts to bring better health care and general well-being to the people of his state while blaming the legislature for all of his policy failures.

Good riddance! Perhaps his wife Patti's family can break the truth to the governor. He's in denial. The people of IL are gleeful that this man is gone. He should've resigned but now look what he's put his wife and children thru--a disgrace. No job and no dignity.

I think Blago might just have become the first victim of Obama's secret star chamber. Head assassin? Rahm Emmanuel. Blago was talking in code, but trying to indicated Emmanuel had put him up to it. I think it's probably true that he got a nudge and wink from Emmanuel, who was probably complicit with the Feds. It would be very Obama to leave Chicago politics with a political career assassination, just to let people know that things have changed now, there's a new boss and a different line being enforced.

I heard one of the talking heads who interviewed him on his Magical Mystery Tour ask him what he was going to do if he was impeached. The talking head actually asked him if he was going to agree to go. Apparently they didn't know that he has no choice. Being impeached means they are taking your job away from you. I suppose he could barricade himself inside his office, but then they would send the men in white coats for him.

It wasn't going to happen. Blago knew that. When Blago calls upon Pres Obama to fire Rahm Emanuel, Blago knows that it won't happen. Pres Obama is a master at the creation & use of populist agit-prop. Blago isn't Pres Obama by a damn sight.
If Blago gets any offers to do a Springer or reality TV show-he should do it.

To be unrealistic-this may be the beginning of a golden age for progressive web sites. This segment of the MSM now has 2 skilled, daring, experienced women in the business. The competition is real. Ms Huffington & Ms Brown are literary ladies of the better sort. Clair B Luce may be gnashing he teeth because she isn't alive to be in this serious, high stakes rivalry.
BTW, don't forget that both Tina & Arianna are polished. educated, gallant ladies. That is something a golden age in the news media business must have. We have a match of equals, stunning equals. The competition to become the 1st among equals is fierce & will remain fierce, but lady-like.
Some media person is or persons are going to become famous if they do a good job of covering this rivalry.

He can't tie his crimes to anybody. The people he mentions are already cleared. Nobody in Illinois wanted to even talk to this guy for the last four years because he was so openly and blatantly corrupt. Even at the St. Patrick's Day Parade, nobody in the unions wanted to be in a picture with him. He never seemed to go to work, and was videotaped on his porch having coffee weekday mornings until after ten o'clock. He was a mockery long before Obama was seriously campaigning.
