Rove Will Cooperate With Federal Probe Into US Attorney Firings

Rove

TPMMuckraker:

Karl Rove will cooperate with a federal criminal inquiry underway into the firings of nine U.S. attorneys and has already spoken to investigators in a separate, internal DOJ investigation into the prosecution of former Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman, his attorney said in an interview.

Rove previously refused to cooperate with an earlier Justice Department inquiry into the firings. The Justice Department's Inspector General and its Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) said in a report released last September detailing their earlier probe of the firings of the U.S. attorneys that their investigation was severely "hindered" by the refusal by Rove and other senior Bush administration officials to cooperate with the probe.

Excerpt from a recent Raw Story article...

O b a m a, not B u s h, now seeking delay of R o v e deposition

In a court brief quietly filed Monday, Michael Hertz, O b a m a ' s acting assistant attorney general, said it was necessary to delay an effort to force R o v e to be deposed in a congressional investigation into the firing of nine US Attorneys and the alleged political prosecution of a former Alabama governor.

Hertz said an effort was underway to find a "compromise" for R o v e, and requested two weeks to broker a deal before proceeding in court.

"The president is very sympathetic to those who want to find out what happened," Craig told The Washington Post. "But he is also mindful as president of the United States not to do anything that would undermine or weaken the institution of the presidency. So, for that reason, he is urging both sides of this to settle."

Rove' star has faded and he is desperate to remain a focal point. Rove' cooperation will end however if he believes he is at risk.

It is now a part of history.

On 2/2/09, the SewerPig saw his subpoena.
But, his gutter hole was blocked.

The 8 year winter is coming to an end.

Now that Rove doesn't have his puppet, I have the perfect way for him
to occupy his time. He should appear in a new production of Alice in
Wonderland in which he and Rush Limbaugh play Tweedledee and
Tweedledum.

Rats. I was hoping he'd dig in his heels, get hauled off to jail by federal marshals, and turn stool pigeon.

Don't think for a minute this guy isn't going to sing. Rove is just like all the other repubbies, out to save his butt first. He will cut a deal, you watch.

"Karl Rove will cooperate with a federal criminal inquiry"

Yea, sure he will...

He'll squeal like a parrot: take the 5th, take the 5th, take the 5th, take the 5th, take the 5th, take the 5th, take the 5th, take the 5th, take the 5th, take the 5th.............

I think we can reasonably anticipate that Rove will lie to the Feds and probably commit perjury when it comes time for sworn testimony.

Hope they are able to nail him when he does.

I've become cynical and hardened.... thanks to the 8 years of financial pillaging, constitutional r.ape and law breaking done by the Bushies...

Oh he'll "cooperate" alright. That means he'll show up, and answer every incriminating question with:
"I don't recall the particulars of that conversation/ situation/ meeting/ memo..."

HaHaHa!All this means is Rove will come before Congress. Then, every question that they ask he'll plead the 5th or tell them he doesn't have to answer the question because of "executive privilege".
This will be PURE THEATER!That's all...

Innocent until proven guilty. It's as true for a creep like Rove as for any American under investigation. I'm glad to hear he's going to cooperate if for nothing else than to let America's children know that every person is accountable and responsible for his actions, even the political elites.
12:16 PM on 02/03/2009
Yea, sure they are...

"Innocent until proven guilty"

Then why are the prisoners at Gitmo called terrorists when they haven't been found gulity? I think we should call him a guilty traitor just like we (some of us) call them terrorists - YES EVEN BEFORE HE'S FOUND GUILTY.

oh yea he's going to cooperate, and I have an island in Nevada to sell you!
09:53 AM on 02/03/2009
This is a stall tactic. Anybody remember Patrick Fitzgerald??? Anybody remember sand being thrown in his face??? Until Rove is placed under oath, anything he says is crap. He'll buy himself as much time as he possibly can & then IF he's placed under oath he'll plead the 5th.
