Tom Daschle backed the patron who paid him a million-dollar salary and supplied him with a free car and driver for a job inside the Obama administration, two Democrats said Monday.

Leo Hindery, whose InterMedia Partners employed the former Senate majority leader, had been mentioned as a possible secretary of commerce or U.S. trade representative.

Point made. Daschle should do the right thing and withdraw his name.

Obama (and the Country) might do a little better without this crap.

and you said NOTHING of the insiders of the Bush admin or the insiders who ran your "maverick" John McCain's campaign.

And let's not get started with the insiders that ran Hillary's campaign...

Daschle is a bad egg. It's clear he exploited his past government experience and influence for great personal gain. Everything printed so far is quid pro quo - no doubt. Taxes, schmaxes, the guy is a vending machine for influence. Obama will be further damaged if he allows this nomination to go on. I hope he has the good sense to drop this guy. This is beyond the "he will do a good job" argument.

The overarching concern with the tax problem is that this was apparently not disclosed to the transition team or more importantly Obama prior to Daschle being nominated. By not coming clean until now, Daschle has created considerable embarrassment not only for himself, which surely he hoped to avoid, but for the President. It is difficult to fathom he would not have seen this coming. Perhaps Tom does need to consider letting Obama off the hook.

"Transparency"? Daschle is transparent. He lives off tax-payers, avoids paying taxes, and is paid for his political "consulting" (a.k.a. lobbying). Indeed, he is so transparent that even Obama seems unable to see what he's up to.

I've read enough.

Daschle is nothing more than Hillary with an appendage.

but not her bills....

Debt = $5.4 million, is owed to Penn, Schoen & Berland.

Other creditors are the Washington-based MSHC Partners, which is owed $397,114 for printing costs, and D.H. Lloyd & Associates, which is owed $147,987 for insurance costs; Financial Innovations Inc. of Cranston, Rhode Island, which is owed $31,452 for printing costs; and the Mayfield Strategy Group of Palo Alto, California, which is owed $4,552 for consulting and Web site expenses.

If these companies are late on their taxes - can they blame the SOS or get a waiver?

Haha. Ironically, Hillary - the person whom everyone complained was bringing "drama" to the Obama administration - probably had the most unanimous, drama-free confirmation. 94-2, baby!

On the other hand, Geithner, Daschle, Holder, and now the woman who's the performance officer nominee - nothing but drama!
