Cheney Predicts Catastrophic Terrorist Attack

Politico:

Former Vice President Dick Cheney warned that there is a "high probability" that terrorists will attempt a catastrophic nuclear or biological attack in coming years, and said he fears the Obama administration's policies will make it more likely the attempt will succeed.

In an interview Tuesday with Politico, Cheney unyieldingly defended the Bush administration's support for the Guantanamo Bay prison and coercive interrogation of terrorism suspects.

In other remarks, Cheney predicted that the later months of the next four years are likely to beset northern states with bone-chilling cold and frequent snow events... also attributable to the new administration's 'appeasement' of the forces of Nature and its repudiation of the practice of railing at the open sky.

"President Obama is more interested in reading Miranda Rights to al-Qaida than protecting Americans".

If he actually said that, why isn't the media jumping all over him? (as if I don't already know!)

I've just spent a half hour or so reading some of the comments here. I am just as appalled as my fellow bloggers.

I did manage to find one silver lining in this story though, and that was in watching Rachel Maddow last night. I derived a great deal of pleasure in Rachel running a clip showing us Cheney now has a small office, which is located on one side of a long and nondescript hallway in a Virginia strip mall. So nondescript is this office, it has a sticky on it's door. Rachel mentioned this is where the Politico interview took place. Fitting.

A lack of respect for the United States is precisely what Cheney and company have generated and exacerbated all over the world.

It was never "required" that the United States fabricate evidence to invade Iraq and further destabilize an already dangerously unstable region.

It was never "required" that the United States create a whole new generation of terrorists, employing torture, degradation, xenophobia; all in a thinly veiled hegemonic quest for control.

It was never "required" that the Bush/Cheney administration spy on its own citizens, subvert the constitution, thwart the Geneva Convention, scoff at judicial subpoenas and generally set themselves above the law.

What is "required" is that Dick Cheney be made to answer for his obvious criminal behavior. What else could he mean by referring to his freedom to speak because the statute of limitations are set to expire? If that is not a tacit admission of guilt, then none exists.

When Ronald Reagan was president, the World Trade was attacked. Bil Clinton took over, no more attacks. When George Bush was president, the World Trade Center and the Pentagon were attacked. Barack Obama is now at the helm. Cheney kept his mouth shut for 8 years and now he has the audacity, the gaul, the nerve to try to stir up the new presidency by exclaiming this dark future for America because we won't torture innocent people? Might want to go back and double check your dates there Roy. You are only off by about 4 years or so. The WTC was attacked under Clinton. As were the embassies in Africa. And the USS Cole.

“When we get people who are more concerned about reading the rights to an Al Qaeda terrorist than they are with protecting the United States against people who are absolutely committed to do anything they can to kill Americans, then I worry,” Cheney said.

The whole thing is the worst kind of fearmongering, but the above is just despicable. No, he didn't come right out and accuse the Obama administarion of not caring about protecting the US, but the inference is there. It's the sort of thing I'd expect from Limbaugh or Coulter, not a former vice president. The man has slipped a cog and needs to be stored away in a small, soundproof room.

But he couldn't predict (plan) the first one? Puh-lease. If it does happen it's BECAUSE of this TOOL and his shrub BUSH!

If I remember correctly all of that happened on HIS watch so I'm not too keen on giving his flappin yap any credit.

What I do Cheney credit for is fabricating a war so he could suspend the constiution, ignore due process, give the ok to torture, lie about it, shoot people in the face, and then say so what about everything. The whole thing was a con job. Lack of records at Guantanamo was a prime examle. If was either gross incompetence, negligence or they had nothing.

Bush, Cheney, Rove and Rumsfeld should ALL be tried for treason.
