Obamas Head To Kennedy Center For 'Date Night' (PHOTOS)

WASHINGTON - Life in the White House isn't keeping Barack and Michelle Obama from holding onto date night.

The president and first lady are attending an Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater performance on Friday night at The Kennedy Center.

The show is sold out, but that's not a problem. The White House says the Obamas plan to sit in the president's box.

The first couple will attend the performance with friends.

In an interview before his inauguration, the president said he and his wife liked having Friday date nights.

POTUS, FLOTUS and daughters stayed until the end of a two and a quarterhour performance by the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater at the KennedyCenter, according to a White House official, although the pool left thebuilding before the end.

POTUS was wearing a dark suit, white shirt and red tie; FLOTUS wore a blackjacket decorated with a large silver broach. Audience members hung over thebalcony above the presidential box trying to reach down to shake hands.FLOTUS and daughters smiled broadly as they waved at the crowd. One womanin an adjacent box appeared to be shrieking with delight at her closeencounter with the First Family.
