Palin Presses Obama On Alaska Pipeline

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin made a special appeal to President Obama Friday, asking him to keep her state in mind when he travels to Canada in two weeks.

In a letter to the president, the former vice presidential candidate urges Obama to discuss the construction of an Alaska natural gas pipeline when he sits down with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

Although the woman has been bragging about how she got that pipeline started during the campain, the fact is all she accomplished was handing out a huge no-bid contract to her rich buddy's to build the thing. Problem is, that company wants Alaska to subsidize the project with something around 500 million in taxpayer money. Oil companies are not willing to pay the prices it would take to make the pipeline profitable. Add that to the obstacles to overcome with the Canadians and it works out to be a pipeline to nowhere. The same nowhere that her bridge and road leads to. Palin's hypocricy is staggering.

If the oil companies won't pay, because it's not profitable, then doesn't the market suggest this is a HUGELY inefficient project? The oil companies are the only ones who could make any profit at all from such a project. If it's not worth it to them, why is it worth it to the federal government and the taxpayers in the lower 48? Sure, with a free pipeline, the oil companies will make loads of money, but if they had to use their own money, the return would not be worth while?

Why don't we just send our tax money directly to the oil company, let them shave off 5% or whatever and distribute that 5% to the people of Alaska so they could buy liquor and spend the winter drunk.

2. Alaska always has a hand out for Federal Taxes bec. they do NOT pay State Income Tax.

3. Sarah wants me & you & the lower 48 Tax dollars for her state but refuses to make her own state pay their fair share.
