Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) is the latest lawmaker to back Howard Dean, the former chairman of the Democratic National Committee, for secretary of Health and Human Services.

In a letter to President Obama that was released on Sunday, Sanders backed Dean, the former Vermont governor and physician, as someone who is "eminently qualified" to reform healthcare after Obama's first choice, former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle (D-S.D.), withdrew his nomination last week.

Sebelius is competent and I believe that she will run for the Senate seat in 2010, also I believe that President Obama will select her for V.P in 2012 because Biden will be another Cheney and the Dems need someone who is young and ready to take the helm in 2016. Pres O is extremely smart in 2012, he will put a woman on his ticket as V.P and in 2016 we will have a woman President and that will carry into 2024 because that woman will select a latino or another minority to be VP, by 2020, the US hispanic population will soar to new heights in Texas, NC, AZ, NM, CO and CA, also FL, that means those states will remain or go blue for the next 20 years or more. Texas is going blue in 2012 maybe sooner!

Howard Dean would be a good choice. Dean has one through the wars and know the fight.

Obama has made poor choices for his cabinet so far. He has appointed too many Republicans and too many former Clinton Administration people .

how about asking Dean what he wants. has anybody considered he was asked and said no. or are you too busy trying to spin a media created scenario between him and Obama.

I believe in Karma. Things happen for a reason. I support Howard Dean for Secretary of Human Health and Services.

I have nothing against Sebelious. However, I do believe that Dean should be the person selected for this post. If I didn't know any better, I'd say someone on Obama's administration (**cough R.a.h.m) is pushing the leak of Sebilius being a top choice to squash the voices in favor of Dean.

I am glad that Huffingtonpost is posting this news story. Now, if only it can get through the mainstream media.

Howard Dean would be a much better choice for HHS over Governor Sebelius. What better person for speaking the lingo of the healthcare industry than a Dr. I don't know what the problem is in seeing this for the Obama Administration.

Howard Dean can be combative, but maybe that is what needed someone who is not weak to get the Healthcare in this country overhauled.

Howard Dean would be the best choice; I hope this a case where the tail wags the dog. Kucinich would also be a great choice.

Both Dean or Sebelius will be excellent in this role.

However, I think Gov. Dean is more conditioned for the fight that this role will surely entail, and this is something that must be considered.. He cannot be intimidated, and is more "in your face, let's cut through the crap..." , which will surely be needed because the right wingers are positioning themselves for a real knock-down drag out, bloody fight on this episode.
It will not be pretty.
They will go after Sebelius with every thing they have, and her being a woman will be good for swaying the personal attacks, but it could wear her down.
Personally, I wish they could both be put to the task. That would be awesome.

They'll go after Dean just as much though.

What does a woman have to do with anything?

As a WOMAN I would prefer someone more progressive.

Dean is the absolute best person for the job.

As governor, he not only achieved near universal health care, he did it while also managing to balance the budget.

Obama needs to ignore Rahm Emanuel's fourteen year old girl petty BS and show that he really is serious about health care reform.

During the campaign, he stated that he views health care coverage is a right, not a privilege. Lets see him put his money where his mouth is.
