I Like ItI Don’t Like It

New RNC Chairman Michael Steele wasn't impressed with President Obama's Elkhart, Indiana town hall event -- or his stimulus plan.

Steele told Politico after the town hall that the whole economic recovery package "is just a wish list from a lot of people who have been on the sidelines for years ... to get a little bling, bling."

For more on the bling allegedly making up the stimulus bill, watch this video (language NSFW):

On Sunday, Steele suggested that government jobs are not, in fact, jobs.

I dont understand Steele. He says he wants to change the party brand but he doesnt have any new changes on the issues. If you want to treat the Republican party as a product and just change the message without changes any stances on the issues then you will continue to lose. Like lipstick on a pig it doesnt change the fact that the Republican party and its leaders are still conservative and perhaps more conservative than their message would lead you to believe.

I think Micheal Steele is great. Washington has never seen this much ethnic diversity at once before, I'd understand if you humorless liberal get a little nervous. Don't worry, you'll get used to it.

I meant conservatives too. I just feel like this kind of cultural frankness is really healthy.

Humorless liberals hmm. Lets think about this for a second. All the humor in the world will not erase what the Republican party has done to this country in the past eight years. I think you fail to notice that these problems are real and the only thing to really laugh at is Steele's attempt to change the message and face of the Republican party without actually changing its ideology, content, or character that is really funny heheheh.

It's funny watching Michael Steele try to be relevant.

Did he say BLING! BLING! he is so out of line. He is definitely fantasizing music videos with reality. Hes been watching to many out dated videos. Dont forget your past history Mr. Steel you weren't born with a SlIVER/GOLD spoon in your mouth. Obama is not in your class, style or status.

That's about as cringe-inducing as Mitt Romney's "who let the dogs out".

This effort by Republicans to appeal to minorities and young people will fall flat on it's face. Bottom line: Republicans aren't cool, and they never will be.

Yesterday Steel had an interview with George Stephanolus. Steel said that we are creating work not jobs. A job is when a company hires someone for a job. If the job is temporary then it is not a job but work. That means if a person is hired to build a bridge and it takes 15 years to build the bridge, it is not a job because when the bridge is finish, what then?

I think that is what he said

Steele's job isn't a job it's temporary. Your senator, your congressman, all the politicians in DC's jobs isn't a job it's temporary. The president's job isn't a job, it's temporary.

All the jobs you've held is temporary it isn't a job, even if it last 6 mon, 1 yr, 5 yrs, 15 yrs, 30 yrs. It's not a job.

Michael Steal is a stereo type in and of himself. He is a parody. If ever there were a real step and fetch it, UT, that boy is it. And you betcha that is what the good ole boys in the GOP are saying about him. All I can say is "Michael Please"!

If a job with a half-way living wage is bling, then bring it on! My last job ended Dec 31, 2007. I'm now living with family members because if they hadn't opened their home, I'd be living with other homeless under freeway overpasses. (If I were even still alive.)

Question - if government jobs aren't "real", why has he worked so hard to be elected to a whole slew of them over the years?

Is this his way of believing he's reaching out to say the rappers, or the projects. Thinks his 'words' will have them turning to Repugs in droves.

Steele and his Bling, Bling is noth but a Ding, Ding. Round Over -- Next RNC Chair.

He's just another Republican who doesn't care about the average American family who is suffering. The Bling is all the taxbreaks his party gave the rich people under Bush

Hi americansfordecency, you took the words right out of my mouth. I totally agree. Now that these rich clowns all have theirs and continue to want to get theirs by cutting taxes for the rich (per McCain's so-called new stimulus plan). I mean these guys are really heartless or they don't have a clue. I believe it's both. I truly believe that the rightwingers don't care about lower and middle class. If they did care about lower and middle class they wouldn't be so adamant about cutting the programs that would enable lower and middle class to get training and hopefully get a better job. That is what some of those extra programs are about that the rightwingers are calling porkbarrels. That is why Republicans think Regan was the best President because he cut out more than 75% of government funded job training programs for young adults and teenagers. I know because I was one of them and believe me it was helping at the time. I was getting summer training to become a paralegal.

What they're not telling you is that the hipster Mr Steele had to look up the word "bling" on the-Google.
The old guy's a pretty happen'n cat in my book. Pretty soon he'll be calling fellow republicans "dude" and watching MTV when nobody's looking.

Anyone who is a regular watcher of "Real Time with Bill Maher" probably threw up in their mouths a little when they heard that Michael Steele was the new head of the RNC. The man is incapable of critical thought and epitomizes the "talking points sheep" faction of the Republican Party. If the man had an original thought, he'd want to find a vaccine for it.

Well, he had at least one original thought. So original it was completely false. This is the guy who said in the history of the world government had never created a job. Dang! Why does anyone pay attention to him? I don't care what his title is, he is obviously not living in the same world the rest of us are and has about as much relevance to the situation as Joe (not) the plumber (not).

I am a fan of Bill Maher and I can't wait until Friday 2-20-09 when his new season begins. I hope he tears the GOP head apart. This Steele guy is a complete joke. I am black and I am insulted by the words Bling Bling.
