Obama To Meet With Blue Dog Democrats, Sell Stimulus

President Obama, following a day trip to Florida Tuesday to once again sell his stimulus plan, will host the 49 conservative House Democrat members of the Blue Dog Coalition at the White House on the eve of a crucial three-day stretch for the massive spending bill.

The Blue Dogs are moderate and conservative House Democrats who have become a key constituency in recent years as Democrats have won many seats in right-leaning Republican districts.

The blue dogs come from conservatives districts and states. Here in South Dakota is quite conservative, but we have a have (D)Sen. Johnson and (D)Rep. Herseth. You can't expect places like this to put a flaming liberal, it would be impossible to be elected. They reflect their constituency.

Look at CA senators they are not flaming liberals, to me they seem to represent more Corp interest than the people they represent. Pelosi could be more outspoken and more liberal coming from such a liberal district, but she baffles me too.

Pelosi comes from SF...that's a major banking center, with lots of corporate offices in that district as well. Many of those people live in those areas. Not everyone from SF is "liberal"...that's a myth pushed by Republicans. Lot's of the younger working class people can't afford to live in SF proper. Who can afford places with $2000/room rent shares?

San Francisco is "old" money. Los Angeles, on the other hand, wanted to grow so badly in the early days, that anybody could come there and live. My parents came in 1922; my father got a job in Los Angeles in one day. There were then jobs all over the place. Not so today. Los Angeles is a hodge podge of many different nationalities and languages all brought together with the English language. i think LA is much more liberal than San Francisco. San Diego is much more Republican and very much into themselves. Everything in San Diego County goes to the city of San Diego. Not good with that even water rights. I know from family experience.
