Phelps Bong Owner Charged After Trying To Sell Piece On Ebay

WISTV reports on a new twist in the Michael Phelps drug saga. The owner of the bong used by the Olympic swimmer tried to sell the piece on eBay -- getting himself charged with the party attendees in the process. "Sources say the owner of the bong was trying to sell it on eBay for as much as $100,000," the paper reports. The bong has been located and confiscated by the police.

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott defended his decision to go after Phelps, saying he could not ignore lawbreaking in his district.

Senate Judiciary Chairman Patrick Leahy has said he would not prosecute Phelps.

"When I was a prosecutor, I was far more interested in going after armed robbers, murderers and rapists rather than trying to go after some kid for smoking marijuana," she said.
