Actor Ted Danson, a longtime ocean advocate and Oceana board member, is set to testify Wednesday morning about what he believes are the "chief threats" of offshore drilling and the impact of 120 million gallons of oil discharged annually into the world's oceans.

The actor is scheduled to testify before the House Natural Resources Committee and will hold press availability outside the hearing room at 9:45 a.m., just before his testimony commences at 10.

Some of the topics he plans to present at the hearing include:

From someone who works offshore, some seas and oceans are cleaner than ever before. The sea life is almost most vibrant around the platforms and environmental studies carried out show this to be the case. Interesting, those famous personalities that have never been offshore make general comments not backed by the science. Also ‘Green Companies’ are not always ‘Clean Companies’ – they should have to undergo the same stringent clearances and investigations as oil companies.

Obviously this stooge, Danson has never read this: http://www.springerlink.com/content/bya6g7r7ceebanrl/
""chief threats" of offshore drilling and the impact of 120 million gallons of oil discharged annually into the world's oceans."

"natural oil seeps may be the single most important source of oil that enters the ocean, exceeding each of the various sources of crude oil that enters the ocean through its exploitation by humankind"

His number is not supported in the scientific literature. This ought to come as no surprise. Lack of knowledge has never deterred liberals from testifying about anything.

In the article, he says he wants to talk about fish and offshore drilling. Maybe he doesn't know that fish populations increase around oil/gas platforms. Fish love them.

Sorry Ted, but having s#x with a starlet on a boat is not the kind of "off-shore drilling" that they are debating!

He probably is as knowledgeable as Joe the Plumber. Go Ted!
