Alec Baldwin Mocks Joaquin Phoenix, Gets Killed Off On Conan (VIDEO)

Baldwin

Alec Baldwin imitated a zoned-out Joaquin Phoenix when he walked out on "Late Night With Conan O'Brien" Thursday night.

"I'm going to do my Joaquin Phoenix," Baldwin told Conan as he pretended to pass out and then picked his nose.

The two then talked about Conan's impending move to LA, an unnamed London hotel Baldwin loves that he later found out was a hooker hotel, and the Oscars.

At the end of Baldwin's appearance, his last before Conan moves, he announced he would like to be the "first talk show guest to be killed off a talk show."

Out came Paulie Walnuts (Tony Sirico) from "The Sopranos," who then strangled Baldwin and walked off.

Baldwin And Colin O'Brien are one among of the finest actors and the fact is that they both are panic and Hilarious.

Did you notice that when Conan was talking about SNL, he said "Alex"? Maybe Alec subconsciously mispronounced his name because of that.

Eew he's so ugly...if I was Kim I would've divorced him too. But I disagree about him being an abuser, no normal person is completely sticky-sweet to anyone in their family 24/7

Television at its best can be a buffet of the silly, the satirical, the thoughtful, the scandalous, the gee-whiz and the spontaneous. Because Alec Baldwin can unpredictabily be all of these, he reminds us that TV, especially live TV can be an adventure. Instead of buffets, don't we get enough of pre-cooked, processed and packaged talking head junk food on TV? If you only listen to people you always agree with, then one of you isn't necessary.

Why the hell would anyone go on a t.v. show and chew gum with an open mouth? Baldwin is a clown.
08:53 AM on 02/16/2009
I think that was part of the imitation.
09:19 AM on 02/16/2009
You obviously didn't see the Letterman interview with Joachin Phoenix, who was a pretentious ass who chewed gum, picked his nose and pretended to be either whacked out on drugs or suffering from Jimmy Carter's malaise. Letterman said something like, "So, when did you start hanging out with the Unibomber." That was the highlight of the intereview.

At least Baldwin is able to make fun of himself..as during last Night's SNL where he thanked Christian Bale and was upstaged by 30 Rock co-star Jack McBrayer who said he wouldn't want to appear "desperate" by hostsing SNL multiple times.. And let's face it, Joaquin Phoenix appearance on Letterman warrants some follow up jabs. Nothing terribly mean-spirited about it, but the whole thing was just plain weird. And as much as I disagree often with Baldwin politically, he is undeniably a very good actor and a very good comic presence as well. And as much as we all loathed the infamous phone message, I noticed he took his daughter one of the recent awards shows--so if she's over it, the public should be too.

How does a child abuser make fun of himself?

There is a world of difference in being a "child abuser" and someone losing their temper in the middle of a custody situation and saying things they wish they hadn't. Kim B obviously is the person who fed it to the public so she is just as guilty of harming her daughter. It must be wonderful to think you're perfect.

Child abuser? Obviously you have never had to deal with a child custody family situation, where your ex can use play with your childs innocent mind and malign you intentionally and in subtle ways that are undefinable . Alec lost his temper with his daughter, but his anger really was directed at his ex wife. He is no child abuser.

What a cruel person. Some might find his humor funny. While on the other hand, making fun of individuals is curel; showing the absurities of situations is funny.
For example, it is hysterical for someone with Mr. Baldwin's history to make fun of another's mental health. LOL

I think it would be quite funny to hear Joaquin Phoenix do HIS impression of Alec Baldwin's abusive phone conversation tirade between his daughter that was made public at the time of his ugly divorce with Kim Bassinger.... Mr. Baldwin lives in a glass house and should not be throwing stones. As for Joaquin's appearance on Letterman, I kept thinking of his brilliant performance as Commodus in Gladiator and I somehow felt that we were being played... Hard to imagine such a wonderful actor could fall so far off the turnip truck... stay tuned... I think there is more to come on this and Andy Kaufman may be his inspiration...
07:37 PM on 02/15/2009
Come on.. everyone loses their temper with pre-adolescent, adolescent children, He himself said he was "suicial" over it. Nice of Kim to tape record the message.
11:17 PM on 02/16/2009
My guess is that he's going all "method" for some upcoming role. Apparently he got really into the role when he was Johnny Cash, so now maybe he's preparing for a role as some actor who quits acting to be a hairy, incoherent hip hop musician.

my understanding was that the phoenix family had mental health issues. i didn't realize that was untrue and it was okay to make fun of joaquin because it is so obvious he is sane and without any problems. whew, i had this silly notion we were making fun of someone going through a hard time; good to know it's just good old fashioned cruelty - what people do best.

Joaquin isn't insane--just affected and pretentious.

I kind of like Alec B. but it is rude to chew gum in that venue. Too teenager-ish.

I kept waiting for him to finish off his Joaquin Phoenix impersonation by sticking his gum under Conan's desk.

As for taking a poke at Joaquin Phoenix, you know there's a guy with more acting talent in his left pinky then Baldwin has coursing through his entire bloated body. Obviously Joaquin has a bit of problem. Hopefully he can turn it around. I just don't think Baldwin laughing at his own mocking impression of the guy is going to help.

I disagree. Baldwin is a major talent. Phoenix is hit or miss at best.

I agree. Alec Baldwin is one of the finest actors on the scene. He is unique and innovative. One of my favorites. He can also laugh at him self which is refreshing.
