M.I.A. Gives Birth Days After Grammy Performance

Mia

LOS ANGELES — Call her Mamma M.I.A. The Grammy- and Oscar-nominated rapper has announced on her MySpace blog that she has given birth to a son.

The rapper wrote Saturday that her baby is "healthy, fine, beautiful" and the most amazing thing on this planet. She jokes that the two are working together on a tour.

The father is her fiance, musician Benjamin Bronfman. A representative says the couple have declined to release the baby's name.

The "Paper Planes" singer had a scene-stealing performance at the Grammys on Sunday. She strutted on stage with her swollen belly during a performance with Kanye West, Jay-Z, T.I. and Lil Wayne. The rapper says she started going into labor hours later.

Congrats .. Love her singing...!
But hate the fact that she is supporting Terrorism. She says loads of bull to the media(But she is a Daughter of a LTTE Terrorist Leader.) Hope she realizes her mistakes.
All the best to her, the baby & the singing carrier...!

Good grief! Stop the noise about MIA being a terrorist. You want a terrorist? How about the Colonists who revolted against British rule? How about settlers who's descendants now occupy Native American land. Washington DC is near the Anacostia, Potomac, and Chesapeake - waterways named after the peoples who were terrorized into extinction...

Expose the perspective.

A self-described "third-world refugee terrorist," Arulpragasam is her father's daughter, throwing ideas like hand grenades. Semi-9s and mail-order brides fill her world, as do references to the PLO and boys who boast, "I'll fight you just to get peace." From "Pull Up":

Slang tang

That's the M.I.A. thang

I got the bombs to make you blow

I got the beats to make you bang bang bang

Pull up the people

Pull up the poor

The daughter of a Sri Lankan Tamil Tiger, M.I.A. wraps her pounding rhythms around political messages.

Both the music reviewer and you seem to be just as bad as Palin. :/

MIA's music is groundbreaking, and she's an amazing artist. But she's not rap or hip hop. She's rests somewhere between dancehall and electronica.

These posts have no idea that MIA has supported one of the worlds best known terrorists organizations, the LTT.posing as liberators, the creators of the first Sucide bombers. Shame on the media for not finding out more about this women,

These westerners who have never stepped foot in Sri Lanka (Ceylon) have no idea what it's like to live in such places of extremism where one is forced to choose sides. All they can do is make (media-infused) judgements about how those who have to endure those struggles and the struggles of their families choose to cope. Sorry, there is no RIGHT OR WRONG in these kinds of situations. And don't try to shame people into thinking so because you loosely throw around the term "suicide bombers" as if what's going on in Sri Lanka is in anyway connected to what's going on in Afghanistan or Iraq or, even, elsewhere. Sucidie bombing is a TACTIC not an implied means of wrong-doing. If people are willing to kill themselves for a cause and against an enemy than that enemy (in this case the Sri Lankan government) has a lot to be held accountable for and should also have their motivations highly questioned by any and all who support them, as well.

Maybe people perceive MIA rapping about her situation and her people's struggle similar to how people perceived Dr. Dre and NWA. NWA's message was to talk about the streets they grew up and were making social commentary on injustices. I'm not sure if anyone from NWA actually killed anybody, but that mystique added to their persona. NWA is still a respected rap group although they broke up many years ago, but like most successful rappers who become millionaires many times over, rapping about how hard they have it and surviving the mean streets of Compton becomes less sincere over time.

You have no idea what you're talking about.
Quit slandering the poor girl.
