Daily Mail:

Alfie Patten has reportedly demanded a DNA test to prove he really is a father at age 13 after two other teenagers are said to have claimed they had slept with his girlfriend.

The schoolboy was described as another symbol of 'broken Britain after it emerged that he and Chantelle Steadman, 15, had parented baby Masie, born five days ago.

But today the scandal took another twist after it was claimed Richard Goodsell, 16, and Tyler Barker, 14, may have fathered the child.

Yes, it is. But I live in Britain and this sort of thing is an everyday occurrence here. For 'rednecks' read the Brit word 'chavs', which is an anagram for Council House And Violent. In the UK, it's more advantageous for people to live off state benefits than to get gainful employment. The girl's mother receives more than £30,000 per annum in such benefits - that's roughly the equivalent of $45,000 per year. When the girl, herself, reaches 16, she'll qualify, with baby or babies (she'll probably have more then), to receive her own flat and said benefits. Honestly, people on benefits live better than people who work for a living here. This country provides sex education in the schools, hands out condoms and morning-after pills and provides abortion on demand for minors under the age of sixteen without parental consent, and it STILL boasts the highest rate of teenage pregnancy and underage sex in Western Europe. Go figure.

Just saw on MSNBC that the parents let this kid (12 at the time) sleepover at this girl's house.
WHAT KIND OF PARENTS LETS A 12 YEAR SLEEP OVER AT THE HOUSE OF THE OPPOSITE SEX HOUSE?!!

British.

I live in Canada, and it's not that uncommon for children of the opposite sex to have sleep overs. I don't think they are an embarrassment to thier country either. People need to be supporting these children right now, not critisizing them.

Moral collapse is right. The same thing here. Can we do something that enhances our sense of community so that kids aren't so bored and deprived that the only alternative is s. ex and d. rugs? Can we make it mandatory that in order to get a high school diploma, you need to pass intensive parenting classes that deal with child psychology, sensitivity training, early education, nutrition, the environment, and health issues?

BWHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA !!!

These stories happen every day in " Real America " (The South) !

Except they are usually relatives, and daddy is the daddy !

Gotta Go, NASCAR's on !

They have this here in Britain too. A few months back, all the papers were teeming with a family discovered in the North of England, where two sisters had had a total of nine children, the father of whom was their own father. Believe me, the South was one of the areas of the original 13 colonies. We learned the tricks of the trade at the foot of the masters.

What a shame. Alfie's daddy saw $$$ in this story and now these families are being picked apart on a global level.
Oh, that poor, poor newborn, trapped in a media frenzy and she can do nothing about it.
Look at the tragedy in this people. Sickening.
Here we are, slack jawed in front of our flatscreens, lining up to make wisecracks.
Anyone here read Brave New World? Some sad parallels to that story are developing in front of our eyes.

TeeTaaT you're sooooooooooooo right! i totally thought the same thing. But it's like we're unable to turn our heads away from train wrecks. (i.e. the plastic angelina-jolie- imitating octo-mom...)...although when I refer to "train wrecks" I am referring to the parental decisions made (not the defenseless little children born as a result).

and yes. I did read Brave New World (back during my high school years). You're right again about the parallel between the book and today's society. So very sad =(

Clever move on the DNA test, Alfie. You never know whether there were other fisherman in the same pond.

Wow - all these little kids parents sure have children to be proud of there. I hope someone has the presence of mind to remove that baby from their care.
