Sean Hannity's Apocalyptic Stimulus Plan Montage (VIDEO)

President Obama's stimulus plan may be met with dismay by conservatives such as Sean Hannity, but it has clearly stimulated a flourishing of creativity among his Fox News video team. Opening his show tonight was a 2-minute video montage, set to the ominous sounds of "O Fortuna" from Carl Orff's Carmina Burana (you'll know it when you hear it), that painted the passing of the stimulus bill as a practically apocalyptic event.

The clip splices together scenes of GOP leaders denouncing the push to pass the stimulus spending (such as John Boehner's theatrics before the House last Friday) while Democrats aggressively argue for their agenda. The piece ends with an undeniably cheesy graphic showing a recent edition of Newsweek--the one with the headline declaring "We Are All Socialist Now"--rising up from the ocean to tower above the Statue of Liberty and the Lincoln Memorial.

It seems to be very easy to scare people. Fox news is actually leading their viewers to believe that reinstating the tax rates on people making a quarter-million a year will personally affect them. They also seem to do an effective job of convincing people that they are the only news outlet . I never knew fear-mongering was so simple. Their lies and spin are so outrageous that its getting to the point where the new administration might have to slap Fox with a lawsuit.
The GOP is going down the tubes. As long as they continue to turn a blind eye to the sickening xenophobia and racism coming from their pundits and constituents, they'll be getting what they deserve and I won't feel a bit sorry for them. And for any one of them who moans to me about "Socialism", I tell them that we just barely escaped eight years in a Fascist state, and they should look up the word Fascism. But then again, these people don't really read the news........

Nobody's paying 70% in taxes. When Bush implented the tax cuts it was from 39% to 36%. It only applied to people making at least $250K, and it's set to expire next year. Obama is only choosing to let the tax cuts expire.
If you make LESS than $250K, you will be receiving a tax CUT.

Under Reagan the national debt nearly tripled to $2.6 trillion.
Oh, and he raised the social security tax on us to cover part of the tax cuts to the rich.
After Bush 1 the debt was over $5 trillion and he raised taxes too.
After Bush 2 the debt was over $10 trillion and he left us with a broken economy, our military weakened and 2 unresolved occupations.

I think Matthews fits right into that lineup. He may not get into the theatrics of Olbermann and Maddow (both of which I enjoy/admire enormously), but with his more down-home style, he's a good balance, and equally honest.
