I Like ItI Don’t Like It

During her diplomatic expedition through Asia this week, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made an appearance on the set of an Indonesian teen show in Jakarta whose name translates as "Awesome." Her young interviewers were accompanied onstage by young Indonesian fans.

Clinton complimented Indonesian culture and the "excitement in the air" and conveyed "greetings from President Obama."

Clinton also joked about the show's title, telling the hosts, "I heard I was going to be on an awesome show."

The Secretary of State also talked about music, saying her favorite bands are The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. "I'm old," she said.

Clinton went on to discuss the substantial global role she sees for Indonesia in the future.

Although there are some aspects of the Obama administration Cabinet selections that bothers me, Sec. Clinton is a great one. As someone who has lived and worked in Indonesia in the 80's it was sad to see their slide toward Islamic Fundamentalism. Clinton appearing on show of this nature is a great step at redirecting the focus of Indonesian youth toward the positive goals that American diplomacy can represent. I love the way The Obama Admin. is initially engaging the World.

I was always very pleased with Obama picking Hil for SOS. It's good to see that she is comfortable in this role.

Hillary makes a competent and efficient SOS, but would have been the our best choice as President to lead us in these times of Economic strife.Obama is clueless and is increasingly becoming a fading shadow of the pre-election Obama.

Getting an awful lot done for someone who is a "fading shadow". Racking up a lot of political capitol for someone who is "clueless".

Wow, Obama's been in office almost a whole month and already he's a failure.....you must have loved what the shrub got done in his first month in office, all that "clearing brush" at the ranch was tiring work, good thing he took that whole year of vacation to rest up.

I find it so funny that the Obamamaniacs are still complaining about Hillary during the primaries.

God forbid she didn't push her 18 million supporters under the bus and back Obama like a good woman should..

Any type of power from a woman really scares the Obamamaniacs for some reason..it shows on any Hillary posts and any Palin Posts...There is not one issue Palin and I agree on but she's still a public servant and should be treated as such.

Terrible that a woman of Hillary's intelligence, passion and pride for America is doing interviews like this..

(and yes I voted for Obama and am not a PUMA)

Hillary '16!!!

What? This is a ridiculous statement. I treated Palin like I treat George W. Bush. To me they are the same person. I'm pretty sure Hillary could have opted out of being on this show. It's probably the most popular show in Indonesia...who knows. No disrespect but I'll vote for Hillary when she runs for President again. I respect her and I believe she will make a good President.

Also, I'd like to know exactly what "Obamamaniacs" you're talking about.
Anyone who's still down on Hillary for the way she acted during the Primary needs to grow the F*** up! We got bigger fish to fry here than needless spite. My guess is that these people make up such a little group they're not even worth addressing, but if they are out there I wanna to be the first to tell them how pathetic they are.

It's 2009. 2008 seems like a lifetime ago.

Uh, she'll be 73 in '16, good luck with that.

Why would is it terrible that Hillary is the face of the new US policy towards the world? Why terrible that she is giving interviews that will inspire a generation of young people in Indonesia to work towards a democratic government? She is the face and the voice of hope for the world.

Your ire at her loosing a hard fought election only diminishes the exceptional work that she is doing and will do.

She's be 69, not 73.

I really enjoyed this clip. Her appearance on this teen should really help create some goodwill among the youth - I would think. She showed breadth of knowledge for their country and culture. ahhh. So refreshing.

Great money quote: "If you want to see...come to Indonesia." Muslim, women's rights, democracy in one sentence. Excellent. Never mind that you can quibble with the democracy part -- well, partially never mind -- but this attention invites Indonesia to take a bigger role in the Muslim world and reminds everyone that not all Muslims are arabs or Persians.

I thought I would never forgive Hillary for first--choosing not to run in 2004--and second being so snippy during the primary. But ever since the convention I am reminded of that graceful, brilliant, regal quality that I fell for when she was first lady. Aw heck, I Hillary 2016!

I second that emotion. She's going to make a wonderful secretary of state and I would vote for her in 2016 if she runs. That's something I never thought I would say!

Good point.

Yeah, I was no fan of Hillary during the primaries, but it's nice to see that, at least so far, she isn't distracting from or embarrassing the Obama Administration. You go, Madame Secretary!

The happy-face diplomatic chores will show the charming and engaging Hillary. But her incredible intellect and communication skills will be on full display in dealing with the crisis and dialogue to come in the world hot spots. Hillary has testified before Congress for hours, on complex issues, sitting alone at the table, with a pad, a pen, a pitcher of water and a glass, and shown a depth of knowledge and comprehension of the subject matter that's computer-like. She's the poster for what happens when you are smart, you get a good education, and can apply what you learned to real life knotty problems.

Who would have ever thought that Ms. Clinton would be a welcome sight on television? She stepped on my last nerve during the primary, but, having her speak on our behalf sends such an important message about how democracy works.

Very proud of her.
