"Real Housewives Of New York" Ratings Up 99% From Season 1 Debut

Hollywood Reporter:

The second-season premiere of Bravo's "The Real Housewives of New York City" on Tuesday scored a series high.

"New York" was seen by 1.6 million viewers, up 99% from last year's debut and holding on to 80% of its lead-in -- the season finale of "Real Housewives of Orange County" (2 million). "Real Housewives" is produced by Ricochet Television.

Never watched it. Never will. I knew people like this in Junior High School. I moved on. Would rather have a weekly root canal than be bored with these people's lives.

I like these women. Most of them grew up middle class. I think they have character--I may not like them all, but they do have personality. The OC housewives seem like fetid rotting sacks of empty flesh, i.e., no character.

i have only seen the orange county one and the NY one but it seems to me that all they do all day every day is claw and scratch to be valued or loved and that they spend their lives unhappy and angry.
the shows have actually made me cry..poor poor things you all seem to have some real good in you that's overwhelmed with nonsense ...use the money you would spend on that next pair of shoes and get some therapy life isn't a battle and its short ...uncondi­tional love it the goal but you cant get it till you give it...do you really think that on your death bed you will say i wish i had bought ___ or will you say i wish i had more time with my children..­.i wish i had been a better mother ..etc be well ladies... good luck

Girl you have got to watch the Atlanta Housewives. It's like a Tyler Perry movie with rich people. My partner and I laugh our arses off. The OC and NY just leave me cold. Probably for a lot of the reasons you state, but I can't feel sorry for people with all that money, being that dysfunctional.

From these figures it's apparent that many Americans still live in FantasyLand, where hubby brings in millions and you live in a whirl of $500K kitchens, unlimited champagne and endless shopping, shopping shopping.

Personally, I find these creatures repulsive, and their petty spats and concerns ridiculous, especially against the backdrop of war and starvation that fills the world.

Well, TV fans, reality is bearing down on you with a vengeance. You can either wise up to this kind of consumerist propaganda -- you're not going to be able to afford anything like this, and will be lucky to stay employed -- or you can start paying attention to the real world of people struggling to get by.

You know, some of the "hubbies" who are paying to keep these idiots in expensive frocks are probably the very people who have upended the economy.

The cheesy thing is that none of these women are really housewives, except maybe the Hillbilly Countess. Although, speaking for myself a "Real" housewife of NYC, the Countess doesn't count either as she doesn't do any cooking, cleaning or child rearing.

What is up with Ramona's eyes? It looks as if she had a bad face lift where the surgeon pulled her skin so tightly that her eyes ended up in her forehead. She is the most disturbed one out of that lot. Also, Simon and Alex are hilarious. I could go on about them for hours.
