I Like ItI Don’t Like It

"Late Night" with Conan O'Brien aired its final episode Friday night, ending its run in New York after 2,725 shows. Conan will be moving to Los Anges to over Leno's "Tonight Show" slot, starting in June.

Conan had been counting down to the moment all week by taking apart his stage piece by piece and giving it to fans, as well as airing many of the show's best moments.

The final episode said goodbye with an appearance from Will Ferrell as George Bush, a satirical song from John Mayer, a visit from former sidekick Andy Richter and music from the White Stripes. But perhaps the best moment was the end, when a clearly emotional O'Brien put aside all pretense to humor and offered thanks to all those who worked with him, and inspired him, over the years. Speaking of TV producer Lorne Micheals, who gave him his job, Conan said:
"Lorne Michaels single-handedly made my career in television. I don't know what I did. I think I must have saved his life at one time. He certainly saved mine."

Great Show. Loved Conan in NY.

Does anybody know if they got around to showing
"Camel Toe Annie" again during the final week recaps?

oh - and it's a disgrace that they replaced Conan's
12:30 slot with Jimmy Fallon. eeecccckkkhhhh.

We had Johnny Carson, this generation has Conan and Kimmel. Puke.

This man is so immature on TV. I absolutely hate his open skit and that stupid dancy thing he does as he points to his band. It's something you would expect from PeeWee Herman, not an established late night host. I surely hope he doesn't bring it to California. I will never look at him if he does.

Some of Mr. O'Brien stuff is kinda funny, but most of it seem so juvenile.

I hope Cone Bone continues his camera crew bits. That's where he's at his most brilliant. If anything he should do a lot more of them, as they never cease to thoroughly entertain.

Way too much is being made of this. The guy is just another in a long line of TV heads, perhaps a stranger hairdo than most, neither better nor worse than the last and ready to be usurped by the next new flavor. He contributes nothing to the world of lasting value and lacks any originality that I have seen ( and I confess that I stopped watching a long time ago). The shame is that there are only 3 networks that carry late shows, so there aren't many heads to choose from.

Nothing of lasting value? Evidently you missed "camel-toe Annie" and the masturbating bear.

I also couldn't possibly care less.

That's why I decided to come in here and leave this comment... because, like you, I can't tell when I care about something or not.

The 1864 baseball guys were great! I love it when people do this kind thing. Not for the score, not for the money, not for the audience, but just for the kicks.

I love Conan and his show. His comedy is brilliantly sophomoric but emphasis on brilliant. My problem now will be that I can't watch Conan and Letterman at the same time. It was an easy choice to pick Letterman instead of the pat and parcel style of Leno.
HAPPY TRAILS AND GOOD LUCK CONAN, keep it up, you're the man.

Never watched Conan so can't predict how he will do. Stopped watching late night shows when Carson left.

I notice that in Conan's tribute to his staff, band, producing team, writers, other industry people, there wasn't one woman and there wasn't one person of color. This is not acceptable in this century. The other talk shows are much more integrated. Why wasn't his?
Conan's been doing the show in New York, an extremely diverse city with lots of women and minortiy talent. I hope something changes when he moves to LA, a city even more diverse than New York. We'll see.

Straight off the top of my head, Mike Merritt, the bassist for the band, is black.

So there you go. Is everything right in the world again? Or do you want women and "people of color" thrown in to every office just to satisfy your patronizing indignation?

He already said that going through each person would take up too much time. If you do the research on the full extent of the staff (a tedious task by any means), you would come to find it is certainly mixed. Simply because his most visibly recognized crew doesn't fit your criteria of acceptable staff doesn't mean his show would suffer any greater as a result.

I am going to go out on a limb here and assume you have never watched the show, and never seen the hundreds of segments staring Pierre Bernard who btw is like me black, and I loved the show. If you don’t know who he is go look him up. Also go to Imdb and look up the writers. If you listen to what he said he was talking about the head writers.

Conan rocks ! I have enjoyed his Paris Hilton, Michael Jackson, Kirstie Alley, Martha Stewart jokes. I loved his Celebrity survey and SAT analogies. In the year 2000 with Mr. T was terrific !
Max Weinberg 7 is truly the best band in business.

Good Luck in LA Conan!!!

OK, but where was Triumph the Insult Dog? I find that Conan's show is very much a guy's show and very self-indulgent. I hope he tones that down a bit. This is major switching of late night hosts and should be interesting to see what works and what doesn't.

Conan's tribute to all the staff was so sweet, loved the last episode. Will always be a Conan fan no matter what time he is on. The man is a genius, he went to Harvard and a child of a lawyer and a doctor! He is naturally funny because he makes fun of himself not others.
