Trainspotting may be one of my favorite movies and Slumdog even better. Danny Boyle kicks butt

I take social satire seriously...

Agreed. Trainspotting is tops in my book as well. Along with 28 Days Later, Danny Boyle is a director whose career I intend to follow.

I guess everyone's film tastes are subjective, but I'm a little surprised this morning that nearly half of those polled on CNN think Slumdog *didn't* deserve the award. I'd be surprised if the majority of those denouncing the film have actually taken the time to watch.

How about "Millions"? Brilliant and overlooked.

It is funny how movies are so individual for each of us. Some on this board think Slumdog is overrated, while others disagree. That is what makes films so personal to our tastes, and our own experiences. Also, so much of our choices are crafted from the films we have already have seen. Some people are huge movie buffs, and others just go see what is popular.

I personally really enjoyed Slumdog Millionaire, yet many others I know did not like it. It had it exploitative qualities, but I looked past it. The story, the characters, the music, the direction.

I must say that Revolutionary Road blew me away. That was my number one choice out of the list of heavy hitters. K.W. and L.D. gave extraordinary performances.

I liked Slumdog very much, but Milk was the best movie I saw last year.

SO many Hindus have HDTV! and desire to be millionaires.
You can watch your way into millions!

Hollywood cannot go global like this, they need to form a Hollywood East.

Overrated, as opposed to self important fraudulence like Frost/Nixon?

NO offense intended--he looks like a younger Rudy Giuliani?

I was wondering if any one else thought that! I had to do a double take.
