I Like ItI Don’t Like It

John Ziegler, Sarah Palin documentarian, went on the "Today Show" Monday to discuss his upcoming film "Media Malpractice."

Ziegler suggested that Lauer knew Sarah Palin wasn't a "moron" because he had been to her house, but that he wouldn't reveal that information because he was in cahoots with the rest of the media. "Come clean!" he urged.

"You making it personal with me is not going to work in this particular situation," Lauer responded.

The trailer for Ziegler's film is out, and in it Palin suggests the press was out to get her from the start: "We're going to seek and we're going to destroy this candidacy of Sarah Palin's because of what it is that she represents."

"Obviously something big took place in the media," Palin said. It is "very frightening, I think, what the media was able to get away with, this go around."

"This is for the sake of our democracy that there is fairness in this other branch of government, if you will, called the media," she said. "It is foreign to me the way some in the mainstream media are thinking."

She SHOULD have been held to a different standard. If you remember no one had heard of Sarah Palin before. We had 7 weeks to learn about this person before we decided if she should be a heart beat away from becoming president. 7 weeks that’s all. We had over two years to dissect all the other candidates. So yes I'm glad the media was tough on her. We the people had a right to know as much as we could in that 7 week period. If you compare all the interviews Obama, Clinton, and McCain did in the long campaign, Palin hardly did any. Unfair? It was unfair to the American public to put this person out there with only 7 week to examine her.

Mr. Z should be more worried about defending her for being a liar.

Palin: "It is foreign to me the way some in the mainstream media are thinking."
And there you have the full extent and scope of Ms Palin's foreign policy experience.

Zigler refers to an online poll and calls it a "scientific poll", which begs the question of a) how he was able to devise an online poll to be "scientifc" as opposed to anedotal or b) does he know the meaning of the words he is using, which makes it ironic for this man to be defending this former VP candidate, who herself complains about distorted truths while she falsely smeared Obama as being friends with terrorists.

I have to wonder if Ziglers production ever approaches the subject of the "Bridge to Nowhere" to which Palin initially claimed that she had said "thanks but no thanks". To me that story pretty much destroys the arguement that Palin likes to make about her being "mishandled" by the McCain campaign.

Had she not been "muzzled", "kept under wraps" , etc... we'd likely have seen even more examples of a candidate who talks like a conservative, but whose state is the largest per capita recipient of federal dollars. A candidate who decries Obama's tax cuts for people who dont pay income tax as "socialism" while her state annually doles out payments to each of its citizens via the Alaska Permanent Fund.

Palin should thank her lucky stars that the digging didnt go much deeper than the Couric interviews. At least, she's able to get some of the electorate to feel sorry for her and can cry about the big bad media bogeyman. Exposing her real record and asking her to reconcile it with her campaign rhetoric would have been an even greater problem.

I think the core of the problem was the media was not allowed to full access to her so they had no choice but to to fill in the blanks with what little information they could find. What they found was a uniquely unqualified candidate that was not vetted. A vast majority of Americans saw her for what she was, a gimmick prop with very little subtance and a pretty outside. Which is a direct reflection of what the Repulican party is at this moment in time.

There's ot much about the Republican party that I would consider pretty right now ... inside or out.

She reminds me of those saggy women pushing shopping carts around at 2 AM at the Ralph's supermarket in Hollywood. Would be starlets who can't go home.

Ziegler is a typical Republican -- dishonest to his core.

Amazing. If she thinks this was being treated badly...I just don't know what to say. But don't worry about her having control over our future. The people who love her now will have a different tune after 4 then 8 more years on that face and body. Just watch.

Well said. It's what I've been telling people. When the looks go, there won't be anything else for mouth-breathing Republicans to hang onto, except the ignorance and craziness, and they all have that.

She was just not believably prepared to be vice-president or even appear remotely credible as a professional politician. This is what the media often kept addressing, to its credit, for the doubts and suspicions were well-founded and needed to drown out the offensive faux-feminist 'victim' cry of the Republicans. But in point of fact the MSM was more GOP-friendly than not, with a few obvious exceptions. To many people it was baffling that Palin's politically incoherent "winging-it" wasn't exposed more starkly everywhere, for the public good, because it was wildly anxiety-producing to consider such an ill-informed and passionately wrong-headed individual acquiring sudden global power over the future.

Republicans are out of their league with Obama, and Palin more than any of them.

What "bad treatment"? She was asked questions that she couldn't answer, or answered in blatantly false and/or foolish ways. That's her idea of being treated badly. Being asked questions.

If anything, she was treated with kid gloves and propped up by the media and the beltway/DC crowd desperate to keep it competetive between Obama and McCain.

Yes - she blamed others for her oh-so-obvious inadequacies as a candidate. And this from a woman who claims to be so tough - pathetic!

When is she going to learn that if you want to run with the big dogs, you're going to get nipped at the heels, and whining about it is not going to make you any bigger dog. Oh wait, maybe that's not how it works with pit bulls.

I am not a Palin fan at all. However, I blame her treatment in the press on J McCain's campaign. The media had very little information about her before his big announcement of her as his VP. This started a "gold rush" on news about Sarah Palin. Anything with her name attached to it became instant news, whether or not it was true.
McCain should have had her out doing low-key interviews in the weeks before the announcement so that the media would have something to refer to. But that would have required planning and foresight.

As noted above, the press was, if anything, too gentle with her. Frankly, no amount of "handling" was going to cover up the fact that Sarah Palin didn't know jack diddly squat about the important issues of the day, and had, to boot, dangerous ideas based on her apocalyptic religion.

Stupid's really hard to keep under raps - especially when our nation's well-being depends on it.
