Sean Penn

E! Online:

Not that Sean Penn hasn't been writing his own ticket for years, but it's nice to see winning his second Best Actor Oscar hasn't made him lazy.

The Milk star is in talks to join the cast of Fair Game, about the government-orchestrated outing of former CIA agent Valerie Plame, per Variety. Penn would play Plame's husband, Ambassador James Wilson, who penned a series of op-eds discrediting the Bush Administration's argument that Saddam Hussein possessed weapons of mass distruction.

Hey ET, isn't his name Joe Wilson - not James Wilson (of House fame)? Anyway, Joe Wilson is a good-looking guy and Sean Penn is, well, ewwwww! Bad casting.

Shouldn't it be Virginia Madsen as Plame?

Sharon Stone and Michael Douglas would have been suited for the roles. These two again since 16 years ago, would have been a big deal. Again, Sharon has been toss to the waste side

OMG, please not Sean Penn again. Valerie Plame's husband is a "looker" and Sean Penn is certainly not. This is casting. Hope not. Don't like the actor and never have seen nor will I watch any of his movies.

Wow, a movie about nothing.

It'll get an Oscar, though, no matter how crappy. Hollywood politics, doncha' know.

I can't wait! I love Sean Penn...I think it will be great!

Naomi Watts is hot, but not Valerie Plame-hot.

Sharon Stone would be a dead ringer.

Hollywood is yet to learn that the "We hate George Bush" genre is a money loser.

Not really, "W" did well and Josh Brolin received rave reviews as did many of the cast.

"W" did well huh? I guess if you define a film doing well as not having a big enough domestic gross to cover it own marketing and productionm costs then yeah, "W" did great. See below exceprt from LAWeekly and don't let the facts get in the way of you making your point.!

"But when all was said and done, one of Hollywood’s most controversial directors making one of recent memory’s most controversial political pictures showed he’d lost his Midas touch. By its second weekend, W.’s domestic box-office grosses dropped like a stone. The QED International production distributed by Lionsgate sank 58 percent to No. 7 with a $5.3 million weekend from 2,050 theaters and new cumulative grosses of $18.7 million. The film, costing $30 million before marketing, should end up with $23 million domestic box-office gross by the end of its North American run. That means, with $25 million in promotion and advertising investment and Lionsgate’s distribution fees, the film won’t recoup."

If it's an accurate depiction of the Valerie Plame story I'll look forward to seeing it, especially with Penn, and if if falls into the docu/fiction category ... no thanks.

I look forward to this movie. Valerie Plame's story isn't even well known. She paid a high price for her husband's honesty. Anyone who has ever been fired for a political reason (new exec.dir., "streamlining, capricious co-worker, whatever) will know how Ms Plame must have suffered emotionally. She was a verified undercover agent for the CIA, and she was treated like a piece of trash in the way of a big successful war.
All these excuses the right wing has spouted about this case all these years (against all evidence that has been confirmed by the CIA, and twits like Pulemerci) can be shown on the screen, as is seems no one in the government will take it on. Thank you Ms Plame and Joseph Wilson, for your courage and service, and the total ingratitude for your attempts.

Sean Penn is too radical and thinks that everyone should think as he does because if they don't IMG! watch out you're a coward! That's just bullshit and a method used by the Taliban where you MUST believe only as they do.

This screenplay better be damn good- (think All the Presidents Men as an example of how to do it) Otherwise I can't think of a subject less likely to draw much of a crowd.
