Pelosi Vs Biden: The Official Clap-Off (VIDEO)

Last night House Speaker Nancy Pelosi seemed very eager to show her support for President Obama, beating Joe Biden to a standing ovation at every chance, hopping out of her seat like an octuplet escaping from Nadya Suleman, and clapping like a caffeinated seal at all of Obama's remarks.


The sluggish Vice President vacillated between looking mildly amused and majorly irked that his seat mate was so eager to please. At least neither of them had to sit next Cheney...or listen to Bush.

I agree with other commenters that Ms. Pelosi was probably super-charged having a great President for whom to clap after the last several years. This was Joe's maiden voyage in his new seat, so he was most likely having both a good time and wondering what all the jumping up and down was about, LOL.

It was good to see the three of them up there. It's a historical set-up; it won't take me long to get used to seeing the three of them in the camera's view...I think I like it.

To be fair, she was used to sitting next to Cheney and listening to Bush. Try doing that for 8 years and not being excited for a change.

The thing that was coming through loud and clear was that she had had to sit behind (W) for 8 years, pretending interest in his lies, (Not to mention having to sit thru the marterial Bush supplied to Letterman's "Great Moments in Presidential History") and now she was finally free. I think most of us would be just as happy and enthusiastic as she obviously was to finally be sitting behind the exact opposite of Bush. That 8 years must have felt like a century. Especially if she was able to keep a straight face during his uh .. 'Great Moments'.

I wonder if Letterman could find some clips with Pelosi's expression included? Actually, it would be neat to see the expressions of anyone because I really miss that segment. Dave tried to use Obama's
Speeches instead, but it fell flat for the obvious reason. Anyway, he could call it, "Great *Reactions* to Presidential Speeches".

I am an Obama/ Biden supporter and I like Nancy Pelosi, but even I thought her eager jumping up and clapping at pretty much everything the president said got to be pretty silly. I hope SNL takes this and runs with this weekend - this was a comedy goldmine!

Why do they need the VP & Speaker behind the POTUS anyway? Let them sit in the front row so our focus is only on the main attraction. I found myself staring at Pelosi and watching all of her movements (hair flipping, etc.). It made me flinch a few times.

The President should have only one introduction - let the guy on the floor do it. Pelosi doesn't need to get any more attention
And EVERYONE should be made to hold applause until the end. And that includes standing ovations..­.

This totally reminded me of an old SNL skit in which Dan Quayle (Michael J. Fox in a terrific blonde wig) , leaps out of his seat every time Bush Sr. finishes a sentence in that "Desert Storm" SOTU. Eventually he ends up sitting back down when everyone else starts to applaid and jumping up just as everyone else finishes.
