Coulter Coldly Dismisses Idea That She's Bad For The GOP

I Like ItI Don’t Like It

During Ann Coulter's question and answer session at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Friday, one young attendee asked the brash author the question on most political observer's minds: was her impetuous style really helping the Republican cause?

It was a slightly awkward moment for the audience, which drowned out the second half of the question with shouts of "yes" (as in, yes she helps the GOP). And Coulter quickly and coldly dismissed the questioner, a conservative himself, by telling him to, essentially, stop talking.

QUESTIONER: A couple weeks ago you made an appearance on... TV's The View. You compared Barbara Walters reading your book 'Guilty' to a [inaudible] reading of Mein Kampf. I just want to ask that your style of self-expression is advantageous to the Republican cause? And if not... because it is no secret to anybody that you definitely know how to stir a deep pot with a long spoon.

COULTER: Okay, I got the question. The answer is yes. I mean that is a perfect example of this insane phenomenon that I describe in my book: people playing victims to achieve some advantage. What, you're not allowed to cite Mein Kampf? Is that the new rule? Because someone better tell the New York Times book review.

QUESTIONER: I just thought because there is another side to that...

COULTER: No, no. We got the question. Step away from the mic.

In the halls of CPAC, of course, Coulter is queen; the line to get into her speech has only been matched by the crowd that rushed to hear Mitt Romney. So the temerity to question her utility to the GOP falls somewhere just short of sedition. But not everyone in the audience was a devout Coulter apostle.

"She is excellent for rallying support among the college generation," said Eric Allen, an Ohio Republican in college himself. "It's similar with Rush Limbaugh. I don't agree with everything they have to say. Mainly Rush. Some of his over-the-top remarks are counterproductive in that they give the other side ammunition."

My 92 year old mother said it best when she said Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh's popularity amongst so many Republicans says a lot about their party.
She's as apolitical as they com but she can't stand rude, mean, people that don't treat others with respect.
'Nuff said.

Coulter and Limbaugh are presiding over a diminished GOP. Which is altogether fitting given their role in the dimunition of the party. Every other Republican of the barest of common sense is in hiding in shame and embarassment.

That's a very good talking point, but hardly true. The GOP has no leader at the maoment and hasn't had one for decades.

By way of fairness. Neither does the Democrat Party, including the President.

Coulter is another reason I have such high hopes for the Dems to reign for at least ten more years.

Thanks Ann!

We cannot afford 10 years of Democrat rule.

In less than 50 days the Dems have tripled deficit spending.

Something's gotta give.

Joe Biden is not a pundit. He's the Vice President of the United States. Comparing the two is like comparing George W. Bush to Jon Stewart. Joe Biden served this country for decades as a Senator, and now as VP, and is extremely knowledgeable and brilliant. Ann Coulter on the other hand wouldn't know the Constitution, despite constantly being billed as a "Constitutional Lawyer", if it slapped her in the face and sued her for defamation.

I don't think Mr. Stewart is going to like your comparison.

Ann Coulter is not only bad for the GOP (but that's good), she's also bad for the country and she is also a bad person. That says a lot!

She may be a bad person, we don't know. But it's not because of what she says. This much was proved by the election o Mr. Obama. (Democrat voters don't need or want the truth about their politicians)

I think Rush and Ann are exemplary models of today's nouveau American Conservatism.. When I think of the Republican Party I think of Ann and Rush.. and I think everyone else should too..

Wow Republicans.. so much to be so proud of these days.. A thriving Economy and towers of seething intellect to emulate..

Rush and Ann 2012.. of course Ann would have to remove Palin's nails from her scalp if this came to pass and I for one.. fervently hope it does..

Speaking as a democrat who hates Ann Coulter as much as is healthy to hate anything, I think she's terrific for the GOP and I hope they hold on to her like the last life preserver [along with Mr. The Plumber, Palin, Limbaugh….]

As toxic as Rush and Palin. Deal with it.

Dear Ms. Coulter,
Without a doubt you are an asset to the far right of the Republican Party.
You are conservative, intelligent, make good arguments, attractive and witty. Your are also attractive to the right wing, but not the center, or independents, because you would rather throw red meat to the animals, or cut you opponents with your sharp tongue. We wonder how that helps the Republican Party expand its base. We are a nation of many people, yet you choose to exclude so many from your field of awareness.

If they (Rush and Coulter) are so good for the repugs then why aren't they putting their money where their mouth is? serve or shut up!

Perhaps, when she is sitting in prison for vote fraud, she can write "My Struggle" about her own experiences.

She may just yet ascend to become the mythical child of Ayn and Adolph.

If only the good die young, I guess that means we're going to have to live with Ann Coulter for a very, very long time. Ugh.

I always turn Coulter off as soon as her face appears on TV....but will read what she's said, because I don't have to listen to her voice and condescening attitude. (It's obvious enough when reading...just can't deal with it live.)

I always watch any segment of Rush that's on TV because he's funny! His face turning red in anger is my favorite. Childish, I know, but it's the only real entertainment I get.

The views they deliver are equally amusing and their views of themselves are completely in line with those of Boehner, McConnell and Cantor...oh, yeah, Pence, too. (He's really getting on my nerves lately.)

I've solved the problem of Coulter and Limbaugh and my rising blood pressure. When either of them appear on television, I go clean the toilets. Actually, the two of them spell the complete collapse of the Republican party, let 'em rip.
