I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Rush Limbaugh's long and fiery speech at CPAC, which was filled with political insults against President Obama and Democrats and where he doubled down on wanting Obama to fail, has everybody talking. The ladies of "The View" waded into the thicket when Barbara introduced the topic by playing devil's advocate, saying that perhaps Limbaugh means he wants Obama to fail because his success would ruin our modern capitalist system.

Elisabeth asked if there was anything wrong with what Limbaugh said, and Sherri replied that there was. Sherri lamented that Limbaugh's comments are causing a lot of divisiveness and referred back to 9/11 when even though not everyone agreed with Bush's response, the country still came together to support him at the beginning. Shepherd said "the man has only been in office 31 days*; I don't think anyone is giving him a chance."

Elisabeth disputed this, at which point Walters broke in to say that if Republicans hoped Obama would fail they needed to offer up their own plan for success.

Elisabeth and Whoopi then got in on the action, with Elisabeth asking why is it wrong to hope that a system you believe is wrong will fail. Whoopi responded that Limbaugh's comments are a "crappy" thing to say after 31 days: "if in a year, you know, you feel this way, that's cool, but to say you want it to fail before we've even tried it seems crappy to me."

The ladies reminded Hasselbeck that comments like Limbaugh's could easily get one tagged as unpatriotic during the Bush years.

Watch the clip of the ladies getting heated below.

The segment ended on a lighter note when Joy snickered "did anyone think that black shirt made him look thin? I don't think so." Sherri disagreed: "I like a man with a black shirt and a black jacket. I think it looks kinda hot." An Incredulous Joy asked Sherri if she is a "chubby-chaser."

*Note: Obama's 31st day was February 19 or 20, depending on when you start counting.

i can understand wanting a different opinion on the view, but this elizabeth is so stupid in her arguments. surely, they could find someone else capable of giving a more rational response to her opponents. doesn't she realize how assinine her opinions seem to others? does she even care how she appears to millions of viewers?

If you are watching The View for intellectual stimulation than you should probably be worrying more about your own state of mind than that of its hosts.

i take it a "rational response" means agreeing with your viewpoints

typical

just like "bi-partisan" means "vote with us on OUR bill"

Rational response means taking the time to think things through and give clear reasons for your argument instead of just spouting off GOP talking points like a parrot- which is exactly what EH does every time! She truly is painful to watch.

The absolute ignorance of the stereotypical brainless blonde on the view is the reason I will never watch the show again. I used to watch The View regularly, but having to listen to the idiotic trash that comes out of that brainwashed fool was more than I was willing to tolerate. I do miss seeing Whoopie and the rest as they actually have valid thought processes and are enjoyable to listen to. But Barbara Walters would do well to stop protecting Elisabeth (I really can not even stand to refer to her by name and give her even that much credence) and find another peson to replace her who is much less ignorant, immature and brainwashed.

Elizabeth thinks the war in Iraq was a success? How empty IS her head? Really? Please...go to Fox and be with your own kind, you make a mockery of the debating process.

Elizabeth - It's one thing to disagree with policies and present a constructive alternative, but hoping for failure without a decent backup plan is destructive and dangerous. As Obama said in his inaugural address, "people will judge you for what you can build, not what you can destroy."

Republicans are also blaming Bush for his economic policies. Why didn't they make the case against Bush when he was in office?Even though they know who caused this economic catastrophe, publicly, they would rather blame it on Clinton. This is no small reason as to why their party is imploding. They would like to pretend they had nothing to do with this fiasco, but it's public knowledge and everyone who is politically astute is aware, except for right wing talk radio loons who keep spinning lies and trolling in the not so astute(Hasselbeck)..

Basically EH is saying she has no idea what transpired when we went to war against Iraq.I think she's repeating the right wing propaganda from the present and didn't know what was going on at that point in history.Any other translation would mean she's dumb as a rock.

Elisabeth's small brain was at work again. Who cares what she thinks? Who actually watches the view to hear what she has to say?

When the idiot lights in your car warn you of an overheating engine do you accuse the car of being hateful or do you heed the warning and shut off the engine?
There's a difference between SOUNDING a warning of impending failure and HOPING for failure.
I'm going to keep on hammering this home until people on the right wing admit that this is what happened during Bush's administration and if they insist that people "hoped he would fail" or "hoped America would fail" I will demand proof....editorials, blog posts, whatever.

Let me know when you get some (proof, that is).
I've been demanding it for weeks-- just ONE blog, or article, or something.
I've been looking for it myself!

Nada!

Hasselbeck has it wrong. NO ONE hoped we would fail and no one hoped BUSH would fail.
People were warning that Bush WAS IN DANGER OF FAILING.
There is a huge difference and I don't appreciate the dishonesty on the part of all the folks who are trying to gloss over this point of information.
I think Rush, Hasselbeck and their legions of dittohead followers are being disingenuous and are intentionally distorting the events of the past when they try to do this.

Rush - You are all hate and no solutions. I just saw your video at CPAC and barfed a little in my mouth.

Stick to radio - it's nauseating to have to hear and see you at the same time. At least on the radio, I can ppretend you're not an obese, hateful hypocrite.
