NEW YORK — The Tribeca Film Festival will celebrate Woody Allen's return to making films in New York by showing his new movie on the festival's opening night on April 22.

"Whatever Works" is Allen's first film shot in his hometown since 2004. He has recently filmed overseas, most recently in Spain, where he made "Vicky Cristina Barcelona."

"Whatever Works" is a comedy starring Larry David, Evan Rachel Wood, Ed Begley Jr. and Patricia Clarkson.

The Tribeca Film Festival, which was co-founded by Robert De Niro, will run through May 3.

Wow, he made a film in NYC. I wonder if there will be any people of colour in it.

Tribeca?

Woody should be able to order some good Italian (13-year-old-girl) take-out in that neighborhood.

I hope it's not another Vicky Cristina. Woody can do much better than that.

Woody Allen has had a brilliant career but one of the gaps in his career is that he's failed to cast several of the most important actors of the past 30 years in any of his films.

Woody needs to direct a film starring Robert De Niro and Al Pacino and another film starring Dustin Hoffman and Jack Nicholson.

Oh, and Will Ferrell. And Jack Black -- you know -- the real "heavyweights" of their generation!

How on Earth do you get the nerve to compare Will Ferrell and Jack Black to De Niro, Pacino, Hoffman, and Nicholson? You should go back to sleep.

I really, really, really hop that Evan Rachel Wood isn't supposed to be Larry David's love interest. I am nervous about this movie. Will this be a great comedy film or another Woody Allen fantasy where attractive young women are attracted to a nervous acting, neurotic and often annoying, not to mention extremely ugly, old man.

Oh, you so know that's exactly what it will be. David will be his stand-in, as usual. Why does this guy still get money to make movies? I just watched Vicky Christina Barcelona this weekend and it was awful He hasn't done anything good since Manhattan Murder Mystery. Way past time to hang it up, Woody...
