Washington Times:

The long-expected resignation of Focus on the Family's James Dobson highlights an open secret among America's roughly 70 million evangelicals: There are no obvious successors to the group of evangelical leaders who created massive organizations or built up media empires in the 1980s and '90s.

The evangelicals have no new ascending leaders? Gee, God works in mysterious ways. Thank you God.

One more plug for Campolo. A great interview, worth watching the whole way through (especially for those on the outside who really see people like Dobson and Falwell as the only voice of Christianity):

By the way, Campolo is an American, but you guys don't seem to get to see him very often on American Television (although he made a fantastic appearance on Colbert a couple of years ago).

'Evangelical' minister, Tony Campolo, in a sermon addressed to a convention of other clergy:

"Children have died of hunger today and you don't give a s--t! In fact, you are more concerned with the fact that I said ‘s--t' than the fact children died of hunger."

Time to change directions and this is the guy to do it.

Hallelujiah is all I can say. As a Christian, I can't think of anything more conducive to advancing the cause of Christ than for James Dobson to stand down. I don't know who Tony Campolo is, but thanks for the post, cuz I'm now going to find out!

I know most of the people on HuffPo see all of this as a spectator sport, but there are A LOT of liberal and moderate Christians out there who have been waiting for a changing of the guard in a more immediate and urgent way than most of you could ever imagine. This is the opportunity.

It's time to let Tony Campolo in out of the cold.

(Look him up; you will be presently surprised.)

jesus has zero connection to the teachings of jesus.

1- jesus = myth

2- many supposed teachings found elsewhere already amongst pagans for centuries pre jesus my

-------a) golden rule "do unto others....blah blah....."coined by pagan materialist atheist Epicurus centuries prior to jesus myth

-------b) anti-materialism already known and even practiced in area------budhists were practicing such centuries prior to jesus myth and we even have written records of meetings between scholars in the empire not only meeting budhist intelectuals and monks in Antioch but also discussing such in the great library in Alexandria egypt centuries prior to jesus myth. The roman roads and trade routes facilitated the Empire interacting with the east-------The essence were already practicing such via a monastic like life for centuries!!!! in the deserts surrounding judea. Not new to the Jewish people prior to jesus myth

etc

Jimmyboyo,
Can you give me some resources for this information? I would highly appreciate it. While I know I can do an internet search, I am not in the mood to spend hours looking through google pages today. I am interested in getting this information, since I have some religious zealots for family members, and I would love to get some facts to beat back their misconception that the bible is the manual for living, blah, blah, blah....

nope, he is working hard in the OC -- he has his peeps fired up more than ever!

He's convincing them now to look to the leadership and organizational style of such historical heroic figures as H!t/er and Ma0 and Len!n.

I kid you not

Dobson... leaves, creating a "power vacuum". Better that than the spiritual and intellectual vacuum he created when he arrived.

Dobsonian behavior is your perfect example of theofascism in action. Constant war and eternal revenge is the motto of every major primitive religion.

Dobson failed his flock because he caused them to vote, not once, but twice for a certified dictator. Then, he pushed Bushclone, McCain. Knowing he supported the Party of Murder didn't discourage him in the least as he embraced preemption, theft, and subversion of our government.

Thanks, "Doctor" for the Evangelical medicine that's hurt our nation more than anything else in it's history.

Pig.

"Evangelical Power Vacuum"

to go along with the "Intellectual Power Vacuum"

We all know how Nature abhors a vacuum...
