CNBC Jon Stewart Response: "Bizarrely Obsessed" With Santelli

Stewart Cnbc

Over at Dealbreaker, Bess Levin's got an on-the-record response from CNBC on the way Jon Stewart's been doing them like garbage bags -- that is, taking them out on a daily basis -- and she's filed it under "worst comeback of all time." I got Bess' back on that one. Basically, CNBC says that Santelli opted out of going on the "Daily Show" because he felt Stewart was "bizarrely obsessed" with him. You know, in the way that he kept trying to "book" him by "calling" him "repeatedly." Yeah, okay. There's also some stuff about how Santelli's "Grecian good looks" came into play here.

Anyway, aside from that response being an exceedingly lame one, let's note the timing. CNBC could have responded quickly to the "Daily Show" by issuing a response yesterday. But this way, they don't have to face the immediate wrath of Stewart and his writers. Pure guts, this CNBC, eh?

CNBC: "It's not my fault you're like, in love with me, or something!" [Dealbreaker]

I agree with all those who say that Santelli backed out of his appearance with Stewart because Stewart would have eaten him alive...and the point is, rightfully so. When I saw Stewart's brilliant film collage of CNBC's clueless gaffs and predictions, I set my DVR and recorded it when it rebroadcast. I'm copying that onto my "Best of Jon Stewart" programs. CNBC's advice has been so far off, I'm surprised they haven't had lawsuits from viewers who followed it. So, Go Jon! And, Santeilli...just go!

Rick "Santino" Santelli received an offer he couldn't refuse from Gibbs.

It makes me laugh (and a little sad) that this whole thing can be summed up with a quote from the movie "Mean Girls".

It makes me even sadder that I know that is a quote from mean girls

Santelli probably thinks Jason just threatened him.

Santelli knew that Jon would make paste out of him if he went on the Daily Show. So he chickened out like a little girl.

Hey! Please don't insult little girls. Santelli chickened out like the empty headed, empty suit that he is. Stewart's piece was a tour de force to expose what a tour de farce CNBC and the other financial talking heads are.

Sorry, you are correct, little girls have more guts.

It just makes me laugh that suddenly everyone is a financial genius and knows exactly what is wrong with Obama's ideas. Gee, where were all these people before the financial collapse? Surely all these amazingly knowledgable people could have prevented the implosion.

didn't he say the same thing about the white house staff, that they were out to get him? and they say the dems are fear-mongering...!

Santelli's nose is so far up Larry Kudlow's keister that he can see Kudlow's dentures.

Santelli's a bully and a coward. Afraid he will get his feelings hurt. Amazing.

From my perspective, there is an irony here. Our TV carrier used to proved CNBC by day and shift to MSNBC for the night shows. But about five years ago, it went CNBC only. To paraphrise Dire Straits "I want my MSNBC back"

It doesn't matter what you want. What do your carrier's advertisers want? They want to advertise to gullible people who are willing to part with their money for trash. Hence, CNBC.

Sick Rantelli is afraid that the WH put a fatwa out on him, thinks that Stewart (who is 10 times smarter and funnier than Santelli could ever hope for) has the hots for him, how bloody delusional is Santelli? Is he so scared that he thinks Stewart or Gibbs is gonna break into his house and boil his pet rabbit or something? As for Bess Levin, keep those "hysterically funny" 3rd grade rate comebacks coming sunshine, my cat could come up with a better rebuttal.

It seems that someone read CNBC their Miranda rights and they realize that anything they say, can be and HAS BEEN used against them in the court of public opinon/comedy. The writers at the Daily Show have done an AMAZING job of journalism by taking what the experts at CNBC, especially that windbag Cramer, and showing how absolutely clueless they are when it comes to financial forecasting. Not only clueless, but shameless and shameless in their admiration of Ponzi scheme promoters.

I guess some credit has to go to CNBC for putting out such drivel and passing it off as "expert advice" so the Daily Show can point out how tragically funny their predictions are.

He is way too big a coward to ever face Jon Stewart. Santelli can only rev up that chain-saw tongue of his when surrounded by a phalanx of fellow arbitrageurs looking to profit on bad loans to poor people.

I think Jon Stewart should prove CNBC "right" and do a segment on their mistakes everynight until someone comes on and apologizes for this ridiculous response.

I agree!! EVERY DAY show them saying something that is incorrect. It shouldn't take much time. Watch it for about 10 minutes and you have your content for today's show!!
