Don't really get the artistic value of women, famous in their own right, posing as other women for a photo.
And why are the fake Michelle's shoes so high? She's like 6 foot tall and doesn't ever wear heels like that. If there was't an article explaing that was Keys trying to be Michelle, I never would have guessed.

They choose Alicia because she is currently hot. I actually feel that Kerry Washington is a dead ringer for the first lady, but Alicia looks lovely. Also Michelle would not wear those stillettos. Ouch.
People really love to find fault with others which is sad. If you have more money they are jealous, if you look halfway decent they are jealous. No matter what some people do someone is not going to like them. I guess it makes them feel better if they can cut down someone else. Wow and here I am criticizing others when I prefer to keep a positive outlook and try to find something good in everyone. These photos are fun - they took my mind off of what is going on economically right now.

Funny, but I don't think Michelle Obama would pay for shoes as expensive as those Louboutins! She's more money conscious than that, and it' sne of the reasons why I love her.

I don't understand your rant...it's a photoshoot, it's acting before a still camera by a director. Lindsay Lohan isn't from a twin yet she acted as a twin, now she's acting like Maddona for a photo director.

seriously...? it's a photo shoot both were asked to play diffrent people... i could see if she sought this out and begged for it...but there is no info to indicate that...i swear some people are so bent on hatred for someone they don't see the forest for the trees
Gabrielle Union is a beautiful, young intelligent darker toned Black woman, I wonder why they did not photograph her as Michelle? She would have been a "knockout".....far better than Keys, who I just happen to love and thinks is beautiful, also.....but not photographed as Michelle...no....Keys is far to lighter toned...
Yea plus Michelle doesn't wear heels that high.
Also, if she has ever "played a white person" in any way, shape or form, you can probably also blame that on producers, photographers, managers etc. Mixed race America has a lot of catching up to do in the educating of ignorant people like yourself and I'm sure millions of others. It is hard when you are told to choose. try choosing one of your kids or one of your parents. Imagine having to choose one heritage, one culture, one identity because the one you are, is unacceptable according to society. I just wish people would think about things before they seriously offend people, racially.

But being Mixed Race in America is becoming more and more common and you're simply going to have to get over your ignorance toward this "phenomenon" in order to function in a society full of mixed race people. Racism runs rampant all over the internet, we know, and everyone is pretty racist. everyone (including myself). But I feel it is my duty to say that your blatant ignorance about mixed race Americans could potentially be a problem in the future. One should not have to "choose" which "side" they're on.
Clearly, Alicia Keys should be able to do what she does without being asked how black that thing was or how white that thing was. This photo shoot is dumb, I'll give you that. But blame it on the magazine editors for not being able to think of anything more creative. Alicia Keys is a strong, American Mixed Race woman who has a number of talents. She easily could play herself or another prominent Black or Mixed race woman who played a key role in American History in their themed "American Icon" spread. But of course, being extremely ignorant and not realizing how new Michelle Obama is to the American Icon status, they made a huge mistake.
Let's get one thing straight here, Michelle Obama is not biracial and the children of the Obama's aren't either. This desire to be other than black is so pathetically lame. As if being biracial is so much better than just being black, that being biracial is more painful than being black, that being biracial is a fault and that the black gene donor did you all a big disservice. Get over it, you have a drop of black blood YOU ARE BLACK with a white parent. Move on
Obama is mixed, therefore his kids are mixed, regardless of what you want to say. I agree that if you are black you're black. regardless of whatever else you're mixed with. Mixed race people don't generally walk through the world "passing" or with the desire to pass. Generally, it's pretty clear that if you're mixed race, then you're Black, yes.
I was in no way saying that the Black gene has done mixed race people a disservice, at all. I resent that because I was defending Alicia Keys being used in this shoot even though I think this is a silly idea for a spread in a magazine. I was also upset because the person I was responding to also referenced Alicia Keys as playing "white", which I feel is absurd. Never during her career, has she ever seemed white to me. going from braids to a perm obviously doesn't mean anything pertaining to one's race. Black entertainers are always having to do themselves up in whatever way to please the people paying them, as most of us do and if that means playing a "more white" role, then that's what it means. I do wish, though, that ignorant people wouldn't say things along the lines of Mixed race people needing to choose an identity. how come its not ok to be mixed? why do you have to be black or white or native or asian or whatever? why cant someone just be their individual self without getting questioned?
When is Lindsey going to do Lindsey? She hasn't a clue who she is and now she's exploiting herself not knowing who she is. Another train wreck.
