Greetings Huffington Post readers!

My name is Jason Linkins, and I am here to recruit you. As many of you know, I'm the editor of the Huffington Post's Eat The Press, and one of the things we do at Eat The Press every week is a Sunday morning liveblog, where I attempt to distill the week-ending political discussion in an enjoyable way.

Of course, my eyeballs and my TiVo alone can't keep track of everything that gets said on Sundays. Time and again, it's been the readers who have risen to fill that gap. If I'm not able to observe a controversial point being made on CNN because I'm watching NBC, I've learned, happily, that there's always a participant passionate enough to fill me in and make sure that the HuffPost readership gets the news.

Today, we're expanding our media monitoring efforts to cover more networks and more shows, I hope you'll come along for the ride. You can sign up here.

Here's how it works: when you sign-up, you'll be asked to check off the shows that you typically watch (that helps us make sure as many shows as possible are being monitored, and if we know that something notable is going to happen on a show that you watch, we'll give you a heads up).

After that, you've got one assignment: email us at tv@huffingtonpost.com to report anything you've seen that would make a great story on HuffPost. That means everything from cringe-worthy gaffes and error-prone pundits to superb, hard-hitting reporting that deserves another airing.

To repeat, whenever you catch a great moment, send us an email at tv@huffingtonpost.com. Include the name of the show, a description of what happened, and the precise time it happened (not just the time that the show airs). We'll do the rest and credit you with the find.

Over the past year, I've gone from regretting that I have only my two eyeballs to cast on the media to understanding that there is an army of people who care just as passionately about the state of the world that they're willing to keep an eye on it with me. If this sounds like you, please consider participating in our media monitoring project.

I know first hand how adversities facing one can cause smiles & laughs not sobering looks. My example isn't comparable to U.S. economy right now &pressures on our President. When I get new health professionals; they ask about medications & surgeries-- I laugh & giggle too, covering my exasperation, fear, & weariness--I laugh or giggle to hide my own concern. It's like "what else can go wrong with me?” Judgers don't care about where laughter's from. I love the fatal optimism in me that means to communicate to the note taker--as they reach for another piece of paper to continue the lists--that I won’t give up.
Usually on the form there is the question, "Do you consider yourself to be Very Healthy, Healthy, Some Medical Concern. . .?"
Here’s the sarcastic humor - I always check "Very Healthy"! They usually look at it with disbelief or shock. Why? I believe that even in the face of a new medical addition-- I BELIEVE that I am. The facts don't support this for now. What else can go wrong? I just keep laughing knowing how challenging it will be, but smiling and laughing because I know I will get better, and they don't believe me at all! But all the naysayer opinions don't matter -- I will get better no matter what they think. Just like our economy – looks pretty bad on paper, but, do we give up?
Does anyone else do what I do occasionally when faced with overwhelming problems?

Jason, what happened to the MSM on cable today? None of them has even mentioned the Jon Stewart massacre last night. What's up? I know you must know?

And why isn't the nutty stuff from Hannity last night with Larry the Cable guy and they were blaming the Octo Mom on Obama. I couldn't believe it. Didn't she get pregnant when bush was in office?

Kudos to Media Matters!
Jason, you should be working with them as well as HP posters.
04:09 PM on 03/10/2009
That's a good one.

Media Matters are actually professionals doing a professional job.

They don't have to rely on people with nothing better to do than play at being "reporters."

Jason, how about a daily reporting on the Morning, Joe Show?
HP cen sor ship about JS is insulting, so we need to go to other
sites to discuss this media disaster.

JS and AH (that's right, this site's AH) go way back to the Gingrich days of trying to undermine Clinton and throwing dirt on Gore.

They are two of the people responsible for 8 years of Bush.

Good luck getting anything realistic about JS posted here due to his friendship with AH.

Jason -

I'm on board for CBS Face the Nation. You cover the rest much better than I ever could.

Be well,

I've already signed up; how do we get this info to these cl**ns to let them know how misdirected and misinformed there reporting is 99% of the time.
01:20 AM on 03/10/2009
Ha HA HAA! Good luck with finding those "hard hitting" journalists. No, really. GOOD LUCK with that.

Why do I get the feeling that within a year or two only those in the media will have jobs? The ones who haven't been or will be laid off, that is.

Sounds like a winner to me. I've seen a lot of stuff I could have reported already.

If you're serious about this you'd ask your boss for some trained staff to give you a hand with what you apparently think is a massive task.

What next?

Spying on our neighbors and reporting those who aren't progressive enough?

All for free of course!

I was a citizen journalist during the primary and presidential elections, and have noteworthy clips to add to my portfolio. This is a great opportunity.

Frontline and Nova are still about the only "information" tv shows.

They deserve a little focus from time to time.

Does it have to be just on Sundays? They are talking crazy, all week.
