Dirty Bomb

Bangor Daily News:

BELFAST, Maine -- James G. Cummings, who police say was shot to death by his wife two months ago, allegedly had a cache of radioactive materials in his home suitable for building a "dirty bomb."

According to an FBI field intelligence report from the Washington Regional Threat and Analysis Center posted online by WikiLeaks, an organization that posts leaked documents, an investigation into the case revealed that radioactive materials were removed from Cummings' home after his shooting death on Dec. 9.

To anyone who still claims the Nazis where somehow Socialist.

You must understand that Socialism was VERY popular after WWI, because people were rightly sick and tired of the rich elite waging wars by using the poor as cannon fodder. And now you have a country where the proletariat actually defeated the rich elite and created their own state, the Soviet Union. The rich elite had no chance in the rest of Europe, revolution looked inevitable, until they came up with a great idea: let's just dangle the Socialist carrot in front of them, and then, of course, the big corporations will run the show. Fa.scism first and National Socialism later were the biggest "bait and switch" sca.ms of the XX century. They HAD to pretend to be somehow "socialistic" in order to get the working class onboard. Then, of course, they used religion and patriotism to get them to ha.te their brothers in "enemy" countries, hence the "national" part.

Benito Mussolini once said that "Fa.scism is corporatism, the merger of the state with the corporate powers." That is as far from the basic principles of Socialism as you can go.

"Cummings talked incessantly about his love of guns and his fascination for Hitler."
Gee, he'll feel right at home in most of the Middle East.

You'd have thunk GW would have trumpeted this before he left office... but I guess since the guy was a Republican it is embarrassing for the GOP, to say the least.

I bet there was a connection between Timothy McVey and Mr. Cummings that extends back at least ten years. I also believe that the FBI was aware of what this man believed and what he was planning.

If that were true, why not arrest him earlier? It wasn't until his wife killed him that any of this came to light. However, you can bet that now the FBI will be keeping tabs on all these extremist skinhead groups.

If he was part of some kind of network or association, then your criticism is understandable. But if he was some lone, rich crackpot, then that's different.

I get sensitivity to issues of racial stereotyping, but if you think the country isn't interested in white doctor shooters and gay-bar bombers and other disgruntled cooks, then I think that's wrong.
01:53 PM on 03/11/2009
I think he makes a good point. If this guy was a muslim exremist this would be a huge story whether or not he was associated with any formal network.

type in uranium for sale on search engine and see what you pull up. I just did it and found uranium ore for sale through Amazon, but there are other sites that sell it. It's going to be up to the government to set the FBI a task of keeping up with the home grown terrorists.

Uranium ore is a far distant cousin of what this guy had. It took a lot of sophisticated processing to get to this. Believe me, that company which sold it, and all of its' officers and owners should be in the slammer as we speak.

of course you realize that Uranium Ore is less harmful than Lead, right? Uranium needs to be processed to be turned into something even remotely dangerous.

It may have been a desparate thing, in the tradition of Jack Bauer, but it maybe that Amber Cummings saved a lot of lives. This will be interesting.

Sometime after the Alamo the Lone Star state got really off the rails, most of the defenders of the mission were from Tennessee, so that explains a lot. Texas gave us LBJ, probably the worst president for the Democratic party, ever. The wing-nuts like to paint Carter as the worst, take my word for it took a Texan to wreak the New Deal coalition, not unlike another Texan, sort of, to blow apart the Reagan coalition.
08:33 AM on 03/11/2009
If LBJ "destroyed" the New Deal coalition, it was by supporting civil rights, and the voting rights act of 1964.

You pays your money, and you takes your choice.
