MinnPost :

At a "Great Conversations" event at the University of Minnesota last night, legendary investigative reporter Seymour Hersh may have made a little more news than he intended by talking about new alleged instances of domestic spying by the CIA, and about an ongoing covert military operation that he called an "executive assassination ring."

Hersh spoke with great confidence about these findings from his current reporting, which he hasn't written about yet.

CNN is fastly becoming farcical! What is going on at CNN? Why are they continually putting these people who did wrong on our tv screens. They know how the American public feel....so why do it?
I am convinced THAt the MSM is undermining American citizens.

What's so wrong with this?

It just confirms the obvious.

What sort of powerful country doesn't have something like this? It's naive for Americans to think our nation is morally above doing this. We did it to Saddam, just in a roundabout way.

Isn't it just easier to go after the problem, directly? It saves money, it's more efficient. Do you think the enemy has moral qualms about this behavior?

I think the rule the CIA has is just plain stupid. Does anyone really believe it's obeyed? Give me a break!

What should we do? Go after the enemy's leaders with apology letters? Offer to talk it over with a mediator? Send an Attorney General to meet with the terrorist's legal counsel and negotiate a surrender?

Liberal or Conservative, you're naive if you think the US shouldn't have done this.

WE ALL KNOW WHAT EVIL HAPPENED.

The Bush-Cheney Administration is the greatest threat to our democracy that we've had. It is an ongoing threat because it is an internal threat, the precedents are there, and have not been denounced by Congress or Obama in any effective way.

Hersh added: “Eight or nine neoconservatives took over our country.”

Mondale said that the precedents of abuse of vice presidential power by Cheney would remain "like a loaded pistol that you leave on the dining room table."

"Top editors
passed the message to investigative reporters not to “pick holes” in what Bush was doing.

Violations of the Bill of Rights happened in the plain sight of the public. It was not only tolerated, but Bush was re-elected."

WE Cannot Wait For The National Media
To Do This For Us.

It is up to us as individuals to get justice for Bush, Cheney and their co-conspirators.

WE HAVE TO DO IT OURSELVES!

SIGN THE PETITION.... Pass it

This is just one more Cheney crime for which there will be no investigation, charges, prosecution, conviction and sentence.

This is just HORRIFIC beyond words!! How can anyone be this evil to his soul??

I am just disgusted by Cheney's cowardly deeds. Dick Cheney has proven he's no different that the terrorist he claims are out to get us!! This is despicable coming from the Vice President of the United States!!!

It's really NO WONDER American were so HATED all over the world during the Bush years. Dick Cheney was clearly operating under a "cloak of evil".

I know one thing, GOD is going to take care of everything Dick Cheney has done. He always does.

This man has blood on his hands both from our military members and foreign blood as well. He's done the devil's work and GOD is going to make sure the TRUTHS will come to light. It always does.

I just feel so sad about all the lives lost and all the people harmed because of the SOB's conservative power-greedy political idealogy.

Cheney should be sent to GITMO and the keys thrown away!!! I'm sorry, but anyone who creates an "Assassination Ring" is WACKO, WACKO, WACKO.

It's a good question. But I'm sure many have heard of the Black Ops teams. I assure you they're not called Black Ops teams because they wear black.

So has murder and it's still prosecuted in some nations.

Truth is definitely stranger than fiction. If you want more truth, go online ande check out the British special forces and the escape of Bin Laden from Tora Bora. Henry Kissinger had to make a trip overseas to personally apologize on behalf of America for bungling his capture. Or check out the terrorist group Jundallah thats been launching attacks inside Iran. Who's been backing them? Us. How about the secret pact between Turkey and the US made public by Robert Novak that gave approval to Turkey to attack the Kurds in Northern Iraq. It goes on and on. Hersh has been on top of news that in an informed society would have been muched discussed. I guess the scales are finally falling from people's eyes and reality is setting in. Better late than never.

On September 13, 2001, Robert Novak had a piece at TownHall.com that said 9/11 was an inside job.

Why would he make something like this up? This is what elites do...always operating in the shadows.

There are people who are not speaking who should be speaking. Blow that whistle. Get this country back on track. I just feel very ashamed sometimes. I suppose that is an antique feeling that went out of fashion somewhere along the line. Ciao, Darteo

Well, Seymour Hersh has certainly given the 9/11 conspiracy kooks some red meet, hasn't he. Of course, it's all nonsense! JSOC is a military command under which all Service special operations units can be used. Like any other Joint command, they are answerable to the Joint Chiefs. Further, depending on mission, they are also answerable to their respective Service Chiefs. These people are not some shadowy, Dan Brown-inspired, group that lives in the dark. They are military men and women, exactly the same as those in the 82'd Airborne or 2d Marine Division.
Please, curb your enthusiasm for hatred.

So? Enlighten me and everyone else. After 26 years active duty, I know a thing or two about JSOC. They've never been hidden, and yet Mr. Hersh's speech would seem to indicate that, surprise, he's just learned of this unit.

I voted for Barack Obama, but he had better get WAY out in front of the growing concerns of his embracing the criminals he took power from. The posture of closing gitmo with no timetable, continuing renditions, substituting Bagram for Guantanamo so habeas corpus can remain denied, signing statements, using State Secrets privilege to throw out entire lawsuits and failing to come to the defense of NIE appointment (not subject to Congress approval) because of AIPAC lobbying are NOT instilling confidence in those that got him the office. I'd like to see the courage talked about on the campaign trail applies to the actual job. You are going to fail trying to please everyone. You, Mr. President had better dance with the ones that brung ya.

Agreed.

Way back when - election night - Howard Zinn told us how it was.

"Obama is a pawn on a chessboard. He can become powerful - a knight, a bishop or even the Queen - IF he is moved. But WE the people have to move him." Because you can guarantee that the vested interests will not. They like him just were he is.

What vested interests? Peter Dale Scott tells us 'groups within the elite.' The Wall Street crowd, the Zionist lobby - AIPAC, the oil lobby, the Saudi lobby, the southern money crowd ... on and on.
