Various European countries have been experimenting with castration of extreme sex offenders for a very long time. It is more humane than execution, is it not? Why are the rights of the offender more valuable than the rights of the victims?

Enough with this castration nonsense. Why are sex offenders, especially those who commit their crimes against children, or maim or murder their victims, ever released from prison in the first place?

Because we can't afford to keep people in prison forever. Our prisons are already busting at the seams, and they eat up the largest part many state budgets. Do you believe in public education? Because you could kiss that goodbye.

Consider.... Seventy percent of all fatal dog attacks in the United States every year involve intact male canines. Is it kinder to nueter such animals....? Put them in a hole and throw them food....? Is it kinder to kill them?

Because. Rapists cannot be allowed to roam the streets as they are. Women and children must be safe in their persons.

We talk about chemical castration on all rapists here in humane Sweden also has we start to talk about reintroduce the death penalty on murder.

Giving violent sex offenders the choice between prison or castration isn't brutal, in my opinion (especially if it is chemically induced and not surgical). A lot of these people understand they have an uncontrollable problem. Removing the urge has proven to be a solution.

If you had a disease that made you feel good but also harmed or killed people around you, wouldn't you choose to deny yourself that good feeling for the sake of others?

Obviously it is a profound moral question. I don't think castration should be forced, it should be one form of punishment that can be chosen.

If they admit their guilt and they prefer one form of punishment over another, what's the problem? Even convicts should not be *forced* into any procedure, but it should be available to those who want it. Such concern for the criminals is misplaced.
