State Department Gone Wild (VIDEO)

The good folks at the United States consulate in Merida have created a helpful, rock music-filled Spring Break video for the Cancun-bound.

The message: "People should use their common sense," "do not take a vacation from your common sense," and "use good judgment," because "95% of injuries involve impaired judgment."

The State Department recently warned citizens against traveling in Mexico unless necessary, but there's no mention in this video of recent carnage associated with Mexican drug cartels. Just "watch what people are putting into your drinks."

It's a good week for happy government video. Which is more lighthearted? The State Department's Spring Break video, or the Federal Trade Commission's parody of those FreeCreditReport.com ads?

didn't they find five severed heads somewhere in Mexico just this week or so? I realize that they are drug related more than likely, but I can't hep but think there places closer to home that could be fun.too. Severed heads are too much like a Quentin Tarintino movie

When one of these drug lords take an American female and hold her hostage to make their point to stay out of their drug business, then we will be subjected to the parents telling us their daughter would never do anything like this. Yeah, just like that girl in Aruba who ended up missing never to be found again. She was doing drugs and willingly went with that idiot who is still walking the streets and not accused of anything. Why a parent would fold and allow their child to go to Mexico for spring break is just plain stupid.

Hell, I'm a college student and you couldn't pay me to go to Mexico with the scope of the drug wars going on. The druglords are going into hospitals now and killing the patients and doctors for crying out loud! There's bulletproof vests being sold in the boutiques! I'll just stick around with family and friends in the U.S., thank you.

Of course, there has been a State Dept Travel Advisory re travel to Mexico for about a month now. Mexico should NOT be a destination for Spring Break anyway. Not this year.
